What are the Trovat Advanced II High GTX?
Mammut has designed the Trovat Advanced II High GTX for technical mountain hikes where comfort, support and protection are paramount. They offer all the elements of a classic hiking boot in one contemporary design that feels and looks fantastic. Who said you couldn't look good in the outdoors?
What are they made of?
A lot of the techy stuff comes within the materials that make these boots. So grab a cuppa, this one might take a minute.
The upper is constructed with terracare® Nubuck leather that is long-lasting and highly durable, improving the boot's longevity as long as it's cleaned and maintained correctly (if you're unsure, check out our quick, easy YouTube guide by clicking here). Nubuck leather is much more breathable and will help encourage temperature regulation for long days and intense adventures - this can be enhanced further with a good pair of moisture-wicking technical socks... but that subject is for another day.
terracare® offers responsibly manufactured performance leather by following transparent production practices, using over 40% less water and generating over 30% less CO2 emissions than the industry average.
The Vibram® XS Trek soles enhance performance and are designed to prioritise flexibility and traction on wet surfaces, making them fantastic for the unpredictable UK weather and diverse terrain. They're made of a non-marking rubber compound that provides stability and comfort under the foot and is highly robust to last years of regular use.
A breathable Gore-Tex® Performance Comfort lining offers fully waterproof protection without hindering breathability, keeping your feet comfy and fresh on extended routes or for multi-day treks. How does it work, you ask? The Gore-Tex® membrane has teeny tiny holes which are big enough to let vapour from sweat escape yet are too small to let water droplets from rain and water in.
All materials are bluesign® approved, ensuring they have been responsibly manufactured and are safe for workers, consumers and the environment.
What are the features?
The heel collar is extremely soft against the skin and cushioned nicely to feel comfortable on steep inclines and declines, yet rigid enough to give ankles plenty of support on uneven ground.
The adaptive 3D Gore-Tex® tongue sits naturally against the top of the foot and ankle. It adds extra waterproof protection to ensure water doesn't sneak in around the front fastening and entry points, handy for crossing streams or stepping stones around rushing water.
Two-zone lacing allows you to optimise the entire fit of the boot to your foot shape or activity by pulling it in closer to the foot for extra security.
As mentioned, the Vibram® outsoles give you plenty of stick on wet rock and loose surfaces, giving you the confidence you need to help you reach your ascent.
In terms of sustainability, alongside their bluesign® approval, these boots have been made in compliance with Fair Wear standards. Fair Wear is a non-profit organisation that ensures safe and fair working conditions for factory workers by working directly with factories, trade unions, NGOs and governments to protect workers' rights.
