What are the Kento Guide II High GTX Boots?
The Kento Guide II High GTX Boots are high-cut mountaineering boots featuring Gore-Tex® waterproof technology. Updated and inspired by a Mammut classic, these boots deliver ample underfoot support, protection, and stability for navigating technical terrain.
What are they made of?
These boots are made of a combination of Heinen terracare® leather and textile to deliver optimum abrasion resistance and durability.
Heinen terracare® leather is a more responsible choice for the environment, as far as leather can be. It is a product that uses lesser consumption of resources and offers maximum transparency regarding the origin of the raw materials. It also has an optimal recycling rate.
Gore-Tex® Footwear lining provides complete waterproof protection without hindering breathability, weight, or comfort, making these boots reliable enough for venturing into unpredictable environments and at high altitudes.
A dual-density midsole provides underfoot comfort and stability, while the Vibram® Hexa Tech outsole delivers exceptional grip on rocky ground.
Materials are treated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent). PFC-free means perfluorinated chemical-free. Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), used to add water repellent to textiles, aren't able to break down, so once they reach nature via factory water waste, they stay in the ecosystem and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFC's are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect mammal reproduction and hormone production. Therefore, many leading brands in the outdoor industry are now prioritising cutting out the use of these chemicals entirely to contribute to a more responsible manufacturing process.
Mammut also works with FairWear to ensure safe, ethical working conditions in their factories, helping to protect workers' rights and being considerate and responsible with their processes.
What are the features?
A pre-shaped tongue construction improves the fit and feel of the boots, while 3D Memo Foam adapts to your foot's shape, offering superior cushioning, support, and blister prevention.
The Kento Guide II GTX Boots are designed for easy resoling, extending the boots' lifespan and helping to keep them in the loop, meaning you won't have to buy a new pair in... well, forever!
Board lasting ensures stability and durability, while two-zone lacing allows for customisable adjustments depending on the terrain. Protective rubber enhances durability and safeguards the boots against harsh environments. It also helps to absorb shock from hitting or brushing against rock to alleviate impact on the foot.
Combined, these materials and technologies make the boots highly functional for challenging conditions.
