What is the Skogso Padded Jacket?
The Skogso is a lightly padded jacket constructed with a combination of Fjallraven's signature G1000® materials and their very own G-Loft Supreme® insulation. Thanks to its versatile, functional design, it's the ideal jacket for casual use or everyday outdoor activities and lifestyles.
What is it made of?
The jacket uses a combination of G1000® Original, G1000® Lite and G-Loft Supreme® insulation.
G1000® is one of Fjallraven's cornerstone materials. It uses a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton that is ventilating and hardwearing. G1000® Lite uses the same combination of materials but has a lighter, softer weave with added ripstop to prevent the risk of any tears due to its thinner nature.
G1000® can be adapted to different personal preferences or climatic conditions using Greenland Wax. The wax allows you to customise the fabric's properties, such as wind and water resistance and breathability.
Greenland Wax is easy to apply - you can literally do it anywhere! If you'd like to learn more about how to apply it correctly, check out our short YouTube tutorial by clicking here.
G-Loft Supreme® is Fjallraven's own synthetic insulation. It provides plenty of warmth, even when wet, to keep you cosy in any weather or season. Developed by experts at Goldeck Textil in Austria, this insulation is made from a blend of thin, hollow polyester fibres, 10% of which are recycled. These fibres have a natural cluster-forming ability, mimicking down, to create small pockets which trap warm air.
The recycled fibres cause a 'memory effect' within the insulation as they are more rigid than their virgin counterparts. This gives it a slight springiness for loft, therefore allowing it to trap even more warmth.
What are its features?
The Skogso jacket is hooded. This hood fits fairly snug to retain warmth around the head and ears and is adjustable, allowing you to adapt the fit to your head shape and size or layering a beanie underneath.
At the front, a two-way zipper fastening provides ventilation options if you need to dump some heat - you can unzip from either the top or the bottom without having to leave the jacket completely open. The zip pullers are chunky, making them easy to grab hold of with chunky gloves, mitts or numb fingers.
For storage, two chest pockets and two hand pockets are covered with plackets to keep the weather out. They're ideal for storing bits you may want to access quickly, such as doggy bags, hill snacks or headphones. For more valuable items, there are also sizeable inside mesh pockets that easily fit a mobile phone or wallet.
Sleeves are pre-shaped for mobility and can be adjusted with robust button adjusters on the cuffs. You can also alter the hem of the jacket with the drawcord adjustment if you want to cinch it around the bottom for added weather protection and warmth.
The jacket is hip-length for extra coverage and has an articulated cut, ensuring the jacket sits naturally on the body, providing plenty of comfort and freedom of movement.

Fjallraven Skogso Padded Jacket Review The G-1000 shell of this jacket feels solid, like it can take years of rough use, yet it never feels stiff or heavy. The PrimaLoft insulation gives a steady, comforting warmth, not the kind that overheats you, but the kind that keeps you feeling right when you're out walking the dog, setting up camp, or waiting for the bus on a frosty evening. It's the sort of jacket that disappears into your routine until you realise you've worn it almost every day through winter, and you can't imagine not having it hanging by the door. Watch the Full Skogso Review on YouTube Protective, Well-Shaped Hood The hood on the Fjällräven Skogso Padded Jacket offers excellent coverage without feeling restrictive. It's fully adjustable, so you can cinch it in snug on windy, snowy days or loosen it for better airflow when you're on the move. The shape sits comfortably around the face, shielding you from rain and biting gusts while still allowing good visibility, a small detail that makes a big difference when you're out in rough weather.
Caring for Your Skogso Padded Jacket Keeping your Fjällräven Skogso Padded Jacket in top shape is simple and ensures it lasts for years. Wash it gently at 40 °C with mild detergent and never use fabric softener, as this can damage both the G-1000 fabric and the PrimaLoft® insulation. After washing, let it air dry or tumble dry on low to restore insulation loft. For extra weather protection, refresh the G-1000 fabric with Greenland Wax, focusing on high-exposure areas like the hood and shoulders. With a little routine care, your Skogso will stay warm, durable, and ready for winter after winter. Want to dive deeper? How warm is the Skogso Padded Jacket?
It's snug and effective in cold weather. Users report it handles temps from about 0 °C to 10–15 °C comfortably. It's warmer than the standard Greenland Winter model, but not as heavy-duty as Arctic parkas.
Does it look too outdoorsy for everyday wear?
Not at all. Many users say it strikes the perfect balance, durable and outdoors-ready, yet sleek enough for everyday city use. One user shared that people compliment how sharp it looks in person.
Is the sizing generous? Should I size down?
The fit runs a bit roomy, some recommend going down a size unless you plan on layering heavily. A medium user at 6’2″ found it sleek and suitable for urban and trail use alike.
How are the pockets and practical details?
They're well thought-out. The jacket features multiple zippered pockets on the chest and sides, oversized pullers for glove use, plus inside mesh pockets for gloves or hats, all great for organisation on the move.
How's the hood and overall fit design?
Really comfortable. Users love how the collar zips up to cover the chin and how the hood cinches down snugly. The regular articulated fit means the jacket looks good without being tight.
Is the G-1000 fabric waterproof?
Not fully, but it sheds wind and light rain. You can boost its performance with Greenland Wax for enhanced water resistance.
What's the quality and cost like?
The jacket is pricey, but users believe it's worth it. Its durability, design, and Fjällräven's care service (like free repairs and rewaxes) make it a long-term investment worth considering.
