What is the Nuuk Lite Parka?
The Nuuk Lite is a lighter-weight version of Fjallraven's best-selling Nuuk Parka. It comes with less weight and bulk yet features complete waterproof, windproof and breathable protection for optimum comfort. Plus, the jacket features light synthetic insulation to keep you cosy whatever the weather.
What is it made of?
This jacket primarily uses a recycled polyamide with a waterproof polyethene membrane for complete protection. The lining is made of polyester, alongside the 100% polyester Supreme Microloft insulation sandwiched in between for warmth.
Though recycled, the polyamide outer is still durable and reliable as ever. It can withstand bumps and scrapes from general use or rugged terrain, lasting years to come. The polyester lining is lightweight, breathable, and again, durable enough to stand regular use. It provides a smoother finish that feels comfortable next to the skin, should you be wearing a t-shirt underneath.
As for the insulation, it's made from 100% synthetic polyester, which provides warmth even when wet, unlike down, which loses all its heat after becoming damp. Though it's a little less packable or lightweight, this insulation is more also durable than down and much easier to clean and maintain.
What are its features?
This jacket is fastened with a two-way zip, convenient for ventilation or for giving yourself more room to move on steep inclines, as you can simply unzip the lower half. The zip is protected with a storm flap to help keep the weather out. This flap has sewn-in buttons to keep it in place, meaning they're easy to remove and replace if they get damaged or rip after years of heavy use.
An adjustable, protective hood provides ample shelter for the dreaded autumn drizzle. It comes with faux fur edging that you can remove if the weather is too wet or you simply prefer the jacket without.
You certainly don't need to worry about storage with the Nuuk Lite. There are warm, zipped hand pockets at chest height, which allow you to warm up your digits whilst providing space for smaller items like a mobile phone or trail snacks. Two large top-loading bellows pockets are ideal for storing bulkier belongings like maps, guidebooks and insulated mitts. These pockets have flaps over the top increase protection at the entry, and extra side openings for added convenience and weather protection; these are handy for when the rain is pouring so that you don't have to open the pocket from the top and let the rain in.
The Napoleon pocket and interior pockets are ideal for small valuables like keys, cash or a wallet.
A drawcord adjustment at the waist allows you to dial in the fit, helping to keep the warmth in, whilst jersey cuffs inside the sleeves feel more comfortable against the skin.
