What is it made of?
The Oslo parka is made of a two-layer ePE woven Gore-Tex with a 100% recycled nylon face weighing 97g/m². This fabric construction combines a robust, recycled nylon exterior with the exceptional waterproof and breathable properties of the Gore-Tex membrane.
The use of recycled nylon provides excellent durability and abrasion resistance, ensuring the jacket can withstand the rigours of outdoor activities.
Norrona used Gore-Tex because it is the world leader in waterproofness (28,000mm), optimised breathability (RET less than 20), and total windproofness.
The advanced membrane technology in Gore-Tex keeps rain and snow out while sweat vapour passes through, preventing overheating and moisture buildup inside the jacket.
Norrona also used thermo160 synthetic insulation in this parka. It offers great warmth-to-weight values, good packability, and reliable insulation. The thermo160 insulation is made from 100% recycled polyester and weighs 160g/m². Synthetic insulation like thermo160 is highly effective because it retains its insulating properties even in damp conditions, unlike down insulation, which can lose its effectiveness when wet.
Additionally, the materials used in this jacket are Oeko-Tex and Blue-sign certified. While both certifications aim to make textile products safer and lessen bad environmental impact, Oeko-Tex is primarily concerned with the safety of the final product for consumers, ensuring it is free from harmful substances.
