What is the Hi-Loft Nano Puff® Hoodie?
Warmer than the classic Patagonia Nano Puff®, the Hi-Loft Nano Puff® is a warm, durable, weather-resistant (not waterproof) jacket that provides high protection for winter adventures, whether heading on a multi-day road trip or taking the pooch for a walk before work. Its versatile design also makes it an ideal trail-to-town piece for the colder months.
What is it made of?
The shell is made with 100% recycled polyester ripstop, which is lightweight, smooth, and durable. It is finished with a PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent). Eliminating the use of PFAS chemicals in this technology helps eradicate the use of harmful forever chemicals that can permanently damage the environment; it still performs incredibly well, encouraging rain and snow to bead off the material instead of soaking in.
The yoke, shoulders, and outer sleeves are constructed using 50D recycled polyester ripstop with a PFAS-free DWR, and the lining is also made with the same material but with a lighter denier.
A mixture of 170g and 200g PrimaLoft® Silver Eco insulation provides ample warmth, even when wet (unlike down insulation). This insulation is made with 100% postconsumer recycled polyester, helping to reduce the environmental impact, yet performs just as well as the usual stuff. It mimics the warmth and feel of natural down to give almost all the same benefits. On the plus side, it also breathes superbly, has no allergens, compresses easily and dries exceptionally quickly.
The shell and lining materials are bluesign® approved, meaning it's manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
This product is also certified to be Fair Trade® sewn. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? Patagonia pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker healthand safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.
What are the features?
A four-inch Nano Puff® brick quilting pattern and horizontal quilted side panels with durable, abrasion-resistant thread stabilise the insulation, creating a more even spread of warmth and helping it last longer over time. This construction style also helps to maximise loft to enhance performance, keeping you warm in the chilliest of winter breezes.
Tough-as-nails shoulder and cuff reinforcements provide extra durability where needed most, increasing longevity by reinforcing high-wear areas, such as where a backpack would sit.
The two-way, centre-front zip has a wicking interior storm flap for extra protection, plus a zipper garage at the chin for next-to-skin comfort. A two-way functionality also allows you to unzip from the bottom, keeping the top fastened, meaning you can adapt this jacket to suit your activity and even make room for a climbing harness underneath if you're hitting the wall on a cold day.
For storage, there is a generously sized chest pocket with a zip fastening and two zipped handwarmer pockets, each with a soft tricot lining for extra comfort.
The minimally bound, adjustable hood has a simple, easy-to-use construction that fits over a helmet or a cap, again providing extra adaptability for various adventures.
Lightly bound cuffs keep the hands free and warm, while a drawcord-adjustable, drop-tail hem seals in the warmth at the bottom of the jacket, keeping the breeze out.
