What is the Aerotherm Jacket?
The Aerotherm is a super lightweight softshell jacket with a fleece inner for extra warmth. It's completely windproof and highly breathable, making it perfect for fast-paced activities such as hiking, running, biking, and trekking.
What is it made of?
This jacket uses Exolite 45 stretch double weave, which is made from polyamide (nylon), with a micro-grid, moisture-wicking lining.
Lab-tested and field-tested, Exolite is proven to be incredibly durable, completely windproof and worthy of wear in any season.
It's finished with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) to help enhance weather resistance and encourage light rain and snow to bead away instead of soaking in.
Fluorocarbons, also known as PFCs, are chemical compounds initially used in DWRs. These compounds can't break down, so once they reach nature via water waste from factories, they stay in the environment and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. Fluorocarbons are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect reproduction and hormone production in mammals. Therefore, many leading brands in the outdoor industry are prioritising cutting out the use of these chemicals entirely to contribute to a greener manufacturing process.
The micro-grid lining comprises recycled polyester, which feels soft against the skin. The grid structure of this fleece material allows for maximum breathability and will enhance moisture-wicking performance tenfold to prevent sweat and moisture buildup.
What are its features?
This jacket has an adjustable mountain hood with rolldown storage that stops it from flapping around in the wind when it's not being worn. The hood itself fits closer to the head to retain warmth and help keep it in place if you're moving fast.
The 'Active Fit' is Mountain Equipment's trimmest fit. It sits closer to the body to minimise excess materials and gaping, maximising thermoregulation and overall performance to suit multiple mountain activities and sports—it works well for hiking, fastpacking, trail running, scrambling... the list goes on!
At the front is YKK® moulded centre front zip, making the jacket easy to put on/remove while expanding options for extra ventilation or quickly dumping heat.
There are two zipped hand pockets and one chest pocket for storage, which are ideal for smaller items such as trail snacks, energy gels, a small compass, or a mobile phone.
Cuffs are elasticated to cinch in the material closer to ensure heat isn't lost. The elastic also allows you to fit gloves underneath on colder days, or accommodate a chunky smart watch.
The hem features dual-tethered drawcords for adjustment, and to top it all off, the entire jacket packs down into the pocket, which has twin carabiner loops to hook it to a pack, kit bag, or even your trouser belt loops!
