What is it made from?
The Bergtagen GTX Pro Jacket is made from robust 70D 3-layer Gore-Tex Pro ePE, made from 100% recycled nylon with a microgrid outer, offering a balance of durability and performance. The material provides excellent abrasion resistance and fantastic waterproof, windproof protection for the most challenging conditions, whether torrential wind and rain or harsh snow.
Gore-Tex Pro pulls out all the stops, being the most rugged Gore-Tex product available. Not only is it incredibly durable, but it also offers the highest level of breathability to enhance temperature regulation and moisture management.
This latest Gore-Tex® ePE technology is made using recycled fabrics and without the use of PFAS/PFC chemicals for a significantly reduced environmental impact. It's backed by their famous 'Guaranteed to keep you dry®' promise, reassuring you that it's engineered to perform.
If you were wondering, PFAS/PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. This is why Fjallraven has been leading the charge and saying no to PFAS chemicals since 2009. Now, the outdoor industry is working towards a completely PFC-free future and the latest membrane from Gore-Tex® is a big step forward for the brand and has allowed Fjallraven to rekindle their historic partnership.
The jacket is finished with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain, snow and mud to bead off the jacket instead of soaking in, helping to keep the jacket's waterproof membrane clean, protected and in tip-top shape. What are its features?
Starting from the top, you've got a fully adjustable hood with a generous brim to keep rain and snow away from the face. The hood can be cinched in close for a secure fit over a climbing helmet or beanie hat for maximum shelter, whatever the adventure.
The jacket is fastened with a two-way front zip with a soft chin guard to prevent any discomfort around the face when fully zipped. The two-way zip offers flexible ventilation options and can be undone from the bottom up for easy use with a climbing harness.
Two-way underarm zips offer excellent ventilation, allowing you to quickly dump heat if required while still providing good coverage to protect you during downpours. The two-way zip enables you to easily adapt the jacket's ventilation depending on the level of weather protection needed.
For storage, there are two generously sized zipped chest pockets for storing items such as gloves, a beanie, a small guidebook and snacks close to hand and easily accessible when wearing a climbing harness.
The jacket is finished with a fully adjustable bottom hem and cuffs, allowing you to further seal out the elements and trap warm air inside the jacket in adverse conditions.
Fjallraven has engineered the fit to provide a superior range of movement suitable for various mountain activities and technical moves.
