3-Layer Gore-Tex Performance ePE Technology After 20 years working apart, Fjallraven have rekindled their historic partnership with world-renowned waterproof performance guru's Gore-Tex. The Bergtagen GTX Lite Jacket uses the latest Gore-Tex Performance ePE membrane for maximum wet-weather protection backed by Gore's Guaranteed to keep you dry® promise. This membrane is, of course, free from PFC/PFAS chemicals and aligns with Fjallraven's uncompromising dedication to sustainability.
What is the Bergtagen GTX Lite Jacket?
It's a lighter-weight version of Fjallraven's Bergtagen GTX jacket, that utilises 3-Layer GORE-TEX Performance ePE technology for light and packable waterproof protection, for all manner of mountain adventures in mild climates. Whether trekking, climbing or mountaineering in mild climates, the Bergtagen GTX Lite is an excellent choice!
What is it made from?
The jacket is created from 3-Layer GORE-TEX Performance ePE in varied thicknesses for low-bulk protection from the elements, without the use of PFAS/ PFC chemicals.
This 3-layer construction comprises a durable 30D and 15D denier face fabric made from recycled polyamide (nylon), a GORE-TEX Performance ePE waterproof and windproof membrane and a smooth polyamide lining. This combination of 30D and 15D face fabrics provides added durability in high wear areas, whilst keeping the jacket's overall weight and pack size down.
This latest Gore-Tex® ePE technology is made using recycled fabrics and without the use of PFAS/PFC chemicals for a significantly reduced environmental impact. If you were wondering, PFAS/PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. This is why many companies are working towards a completely PFC-free future, and this latest membrane from Gore-Tex® is a big step forward for the brand.
The jacket is finished with a PFAS-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain, snow and mud to bead off the jacket instead of soaking in, helping to keep the jacket's waterproof membrane clean, protected and in tip-top shape. To find out more about how to care for your waterproof jacket and why you should maintain the DWR, check out our YouTube video here.
What are its features?
The Bergtagen GTX Lite Jacket features an adjustable hood with a generous brim to keep rain and snow away from the face. The hood can be cinched in with one hand over a climbing helmet or beanie hat for maximum shelter, whatever the adventure.
The jacket is fastened with a two-way front zip with a soft chin guard to prevent any discomfort around the face when fully zipped. The two-way zip offers flexible ventilation options and can be undone from the bottom up for easy use with a climbing harness.
For storage, there are two generously sized zipped chest pockets for storing items such as gloves, a beanie, a small guidebook and snacks close to hand and easily accessible when wearing a climbing harness.
The pockets also double up as ventilation zips, allowing you to quickly dump excess heat should you start to work up a sweat on tough sections of trail. There is also a zipped internal media pocket, ideal for protecting more valuable items such as a mobile phone.
The jacket is finished with a fully adjustable bottom hem and cuffs, allowing you to further seal out the elements and trap warm air inside the jacket in adverse conditions.
Fjallraven has engineered the fit to provide a superior range of movement suitable for various mountain activities and technical moves. This enhanced fit helps stop the jacket from riding up when reaching up high, maintaining maximum coverage and protection from the elements during various outdoor activities.
Finally, in true Fjallraven style, the jacket has been constructed with easily repairable details in case it gets damaged, or a drawcord loses its stretch after years of use. This allows you to repair the jacket, rather than replace it.
