What is the Manaslu Jacket?

The Manaslu is probably one of the best UK mountain jackets available today. Designed specifically for the worst conditions and made using the best Gore-Tex Pro fabrics, this tough and reliable jacket will shrug off the worst of the weather and handle the rigours of the gnarliest mountaineering adventures.

What is it made of?

Made using 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 40D in the main body and hood, then the super burly 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 80D in the high wear areas such as shoulders and arms means this jacket was designed to take a beating from the weather and general mountaineering abuse. Mountain Equipment use the most breathable variant of Gore-Tex Pro to keep you dry from both the inside and outside.

What are the features?

The guys at M.E. have used all of their Storm Construction techniques during the design and build of the jacket. Everything from seam construction, placements and taping, which face fabrics to use, bar tack reinforcement and storm guarded YKK Aquaguard front and pit zips. The velcro on the laminated cuffs doesn't allow water to freeze in it, meaning they'll stay tight in the coldest conditions. The inner pocket is also laminated and laser cut to further reduce stitching and weight. The face panel is also seamless for added comfort. The helmet-compatible hood has Cohaesive cordlocks (little buttons beneath the fabric); this means they're easier to use with big bulky gloves but also mean you won't have pieces of elastic flying around and hitting you in the face. The Dual Tether Hem Drawcord allows for greater fit customisation whilst also eliminating the risk of snagging things like ice axes and crampons. M.E have engineered all the pockets on the front of the jacket in accordance with their Stratum Storage System Construction which increases the internal pocket size by as much as 25%; so there's stacks of room for maps, gloves, hats and whatever else you like to store in your pockets. These pockets are cleverly placed above the harness-line for seamless use when climbing.

How does the Manaslu fit?

It is built around Mountain Equipment’s “Alpine Fit” block so it has a closer fit but with enough room to allow for other layers. The sleeves are pre-shaped and articulated to allow for more natural unrestricted movement.
