What is the Firewall Alpine Jacket?
It's a lightweight and protective waterproof jacket designed for alpine ascents and various mountain adventures across the seasons. Highly packable and comfortable, it's ideal to be stashed in your pack ready for when the weather stops playing ball.
What is it made from?
The Firewall Alpine Jacket uses a three-layer Pertex® Shield construction, which is a highly breathable, waterproof fabric designed for use in the mountains when protection, weight and breathability are key. This three-layer construction combines a waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane, robust 20D face fabric and a smooth lining made from recycled polyamide. The face fabric is finished with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain to bead off the jacket instead of soaking in, without the use of harmful forever chemicals.
Pertex® Shield delivers a hydrostatic head rating of 20,000mm and a breathability MVTR score of 20,000 g/m2/24hrs, meaning it offers great waterproof protection and breathability, making it suitable for various outdoor activities. The jacket feels soft and packable, making it an ideal jacket for stashing in your rucksack, just in case, without taking up heaps of space.
What are its features?
The jacket’s feature set has been optimised to keep bulk and pack size to a minimum, whilst still being highly functional enough for technical mountain ascents. A two-way adjustable hood with a flexible stiffened peak provides essential protection from the elements and helps keep rain and snow away from the face. The hood is compatible with a climbing helmet and can easily be adjusted with one hand, allowing you to tailor the protection or quickly cinch it in close in harsh conditions, reducing faff time.
A two-way YKK® AquaGuard® VISLON® front zip with an internal storm guard helps stop water ingress through the zip. It offers easy use with a climbing harness and can be unzipped from the top or bottom to provide better mobility through the hips for steep ascents. Two YKK® pit zips offer excellent ventilation, allowing you to quickly dump excess heat when you're working hard.
For storage, there is a single YKK® AquaGuard® zipped chest pocket that's roomy enough for your essentials and allows quick access on the go. Fully articulated sleeves provide a natural range of movement for various outdoor activities, whilst the extended, shaped cuffs provide additional coverage across the wrists when reaching up or stretching. The cuffs feature hook and loop adjustments to allow you to achieve the perfect fit around gloves or mitts.
Finally, a dual-sided rear hem adjustment, which can be adjusted with one hand, allows you to further seal out the elements, keeping warm air inside the jacket and cold drafts out.
