What is the Atmos AG LT 50?
The Atmos AG LT 50 is a lighter, updated version of the standard Osprey Atmos AG 50. It weighs approximately 10% less without compromising function and durability, making it perfect for multi-day adventures where you're counting every gram.
What is it made of?
The pack's main body comprises 210D recycled nylon honeycomb contrast, which is incredibly strong and can endure wear and abrasion well, even in rugged terrain. Accents are made of a similar 210D high-tenacity nylon, while the backpack's base features 500D high-tenacity nylon for reinforcement where needed most - 500D is much thicker. It, therefore, increases the strength around the bottom, where it's likely to take more of a beating.
All materials are finished with a PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent). The DWR encourages light rain and water to bead off the fabric instead of soaking in, helping to protect belongings inside. Being PFAS-free ensures no harmful 'forever chemicals' are used in this process to minimise environmental impact.
The main body fabrics are also bluesign® approved and GRS-certified, ensuring strict environmental and consumer safety standards are met, including sustainability regulations.
What carry system does it use?
The Atmos AG LT uses AntiGravity™ suspension, which features a full peripheral frame that helps to transfer weight down to the hips and improve comfort. There's also an injection-moulded ladder torso adjustment system that allows you to adapt the fit easily.
A two-tone spacer mesh backpanel adds strength while increasing ventilation and reducing weight. You'll also find a subtle silicone print in the lumbar zone, which adds grip to enhance load transfer, comfort and stability.
In the upper areas of the harness, a mesh ExoForm™ wrap upper helps to prevent the weight from pulling down and digging in where the straps sit on your shoulders. The mesh also helps to ventilate these contact points to regulate temperature and prevent sweat from building up underneath.
The lower part of the harness uses die-cut foam, which still feels comfortable and well-padded yet helps to reduce bulk and weight where it's less needed.
Osprey's revolutionary AG system extends the tensioned backpanel down into the hipbelt using an integrated overlay. This overlay sits in the frame to ensure an even load transfer and optimum comfort.
The hipbelt itself is a Fit-On-The-Fly® Hipbelt that is extendable and allows you to customise the fit for varying waist sizes or colder adventures when wearing thicker layers. Additional length and angle adjusters also enable you to fine-tune the fit.
Lastly, the crossbody ErgoPull design pulls the load weight into the lumbar once the hipbelt is tightened, centralising the weight to give you a better balance when moving and helping to prevent back pain.
What are its features?
A floating top lid lets you lift it and tuck extra gear like climbing ropes or extra jackets. It's attached with webbing lash points that increase the lid's manoeuvrability without compromising strength and bulk.
You can access the main compartment by going underneath the top lid or using the curved zip at the side.
A range of pockets allows you to organise your kit neatly. The fabric-reinforced front shove-it pocket is ideal for storing maps and guidebooks that you might want to access quickly. Tall dual-access water bottle pockets at the sides keep water bottles out of the main compartment, saving precious space inside.
For those who prefer hydration bladders, you're in luck! This pack is hydration compatible; it comes with an internal hydration reservoir sleeve and has a centre back exit port to thread your tube through, allowing you to drink on the go without stopping.
The hipbelt also has dual zipped pockets, ideal for stashing essential snacks and energy gels for longer days on the trails.
You can externally store sleeping pads with the designated removable straps. Dual ice axe loops also provide a safe way to carry ice axes for mountaineering in colder climates, helping prevent them from digging into your pack and puncturing the material or kit inside.
Cinch your load using the dual upper and lower side compression straps - this helps stop belongings inside from wobbling around annoyingly and setting you off balance.
Last but not least, the Atmos AG LT comes with an integrated rain cover that shields your pack from the elements. It's super lightweight and fully waterproof; plus, it means you can save pennies instead of buying one individually. Win!
