What is the Syclon XP 38ND?
The Syclon XP 38ND is a lightweight, waterproof and well-ventilated 38-litre rucksack, ideal for long-distance hiking, trekking, hut-to-hut adventuring and fast packing in warm, unpredictable climates. This version is created with narrower dimensions, making it ideal for women and those with smaller frames.
What is it made from?
Outer: The main body of the pack is made from 40D high tenacity recycled nylon, with 100D Spectra® Ripstop reinforcements across the front and sides of the pack.
The 40D recycled nylon fabric is lightweight, flexible, yet surprisingly durable, allowing it to withstand frequent use in the outdoors. It also provides IPX4 waterproof protection to protect your belongings without the need to stop and put on a rain cover.
Spectra® Ripstop is an exceptionally durable material that offers excellent abrasion resistance, without adding too much weight or bulk to the pack. It features a super tough grid of polyethylene fibres woven into a solid yet lightweight 210D Cordura nylon. The fibres are made with a high molecular weight, making them 15 times stronger than steel and bullet-resistant materials. It's complete with a high UV resistance to help prevent any sun damage or deterioration when used regularly on exposed routes and at high altitudes. This technology brings a whole new level to technical fabrics, creating something incredibly abrasion, UV and water resistant while extremely lightweight.
Base: The base of the pack is reinforced with a 210D Nylon blend material to protect the bottom of the pack from wear and tear, whilst adding light structure to the pack's base.
What back system does it use?
The Syclon XP features Rab's Aerofit™ back system, which is engineered to be ultralight, fully ventilated and body-hugging for maximum carrying comfort when you're pushing the pace in warm climates. It features a super soft, body-contouring mesh back panel for maximum breathability and comfort for exploring in warm climates.
The back panel has been cleverly created to be seamless across the torso and hipbelt for an exceptionally comfortable, body-hugging fit, that's just as comfy over multiple layers as it is over just a baselayer.
An adjustable chest strap and pull-forward hipbelt with light and supportive hip fins complete the design, providing a flexible back system that moves with you when venturing across varied terrain.
What are its features?
One of the standout features of the Syclon XP is its impressively lightweight and waterproof construction, making it a fantastic pack for the unpredictable UK weather. The main body features fully taped seams and is tested to IPX4 standards, meaning it can easily shed light rain and snow without the need to stop and put on a rain cover.
The pack features a lightweight roll top closure, which allows you to easily grab your kit and compress it down as you work through your supplies throughout your journey.
Ultralight compression side straps help stabilise the load and also help secure walking poles to the pack in conjunction with dedicated attachment loops, for when you need to keep your hands free on the trail to enjoy a bit of scrambling.
The pack features plenty of storage options to keep you organised during your adventure. A large front pocket provides space for stashing on-off layers, whilst two side pockets offer space for 1 litre water bottles.
Two generously sized shoulder strap pockets offer storage for quick access items such as a mobile phone, GPS device and energy gels. One of the pockets is zipped for security and one open, offering space for a soft flask water bottle for easy on-the-go hydration. There are also two zipped hipbelt pockets, ideal for filling with your favourite trail snacks to keep you well-fueled throughout your adventure.
The pack is finished with an external rear zipped hydration bladder compartment for easy use with a water bladder without impacting the pack's internal capacity. This compartment also features an internal zippered pocket with a key clip, providing versatility for those who prefer not to use a water bladder.
