What is an Underblanket?
Exactly as it sounds, the DD Hammock’s Underblanket is a warm layer that gets slung beneath your hammock rather than draped over your body. When sleeping in a hammock, most heat is lost from below as your body weight compresses the insulation in your sleeping bag and any layers of clothes.
The Underblanket's job is to act a little like a traditional air-filled sleeping mat, creating a space for a pocket of air that will keep you warm without becoming compressed. It should be hung a little loosely for the warmest result.
What is it made from?
It's made from ripstop nylon, with a water-resistant coating, meaning there is no need to worry about your Underblanket being spoiled by any dewy mornings or midnight rain showers!
This accessory also uses 200gsm synthetic silk which you will still benefit from (in terms of warmth) if it were to get wet - an ideal combination for less predictable autumn or spring weather.
What are its features?
At 2m long this Underblanket should be a suitable and warm addition for most hammock sleepers. It's comfortable down to -5℃, allowing use throughout the majority of the year.
With 8 mini karabiners and 8 pre-fitted elastic cords, it will easily attach to any DD Hammocks hammock (produced since 2012) using their conveniently situated gear tabs.
The ample length of elastic cord provided means the underblanket may be hung from your hammock's suspension setup and additional anchor points if required.
