What is the Aerostat Synthetic?
The Aerostat is a synthetic filled sleeping mat designed to offer the highest levels of warmth, comfort and durability in varied conditions. The high quality synthetic insulation creates a barrier between the cold ground and your sleeping bag to prevent conductive heat loss throughout the night. The synthetic option is also great for those who want to be a little more eco-conscious, or vegans! Synthetic insulation uses no animal products, unlike down. It is a man-made fibre developed to hold similar properties to down insulation.
What is it made of?
Insulation: The Aerostat Synthetic uses 160g of Welded Polarloft® insulation which sits inside vertically aligned baffles that shape the mat. Polarloft® is a high quality, high performance synthetic insulation which is developed to thrive in places where down cannot. It provides excellent weather resistance whilst feeling super warm and comfortable to help you catch a good nights rest.
Outer: The mat is constructed with 30D Ripstop polyester - a tough, lightweight material that can withstand abrasion from rough surfaces whilst being highly packable. The material is finished with a TPU lamination for added water resistance, helping protect your mat from spills in the tent or light contact with rain in challenging weather.
What are its features?
The Aerostat Synthetic uses a vertical baffle design which helps to keep the insulation in place as you wiggle around on the mat in your sleep. This provides even insulation across the mat, helping to prevent cold spots that may cause heat loss and discomfort throughout the night.
A self-sealing Gas Mask valve provides a two-way system for inflation and deflation of the mat. This valve helps to prevent air from escaping during the inflation process yet allows a quick air dump when it's time to pack up camp and get moving. Mountain Equipment has developed the Gas Mask valve design to make it easier to use and each part easily identifiable.
The mat comes with a Windsock™ for inflation and deflation. The Windsock™ is specially developed by Mountain Equipment for rapid, easy inflation using minimal accessories and little puff - wave goodbye to a queazy head whilst setting up camp! The Windsock® also helps prevent moisture from getting inside the mat to avoid negatively impacting the thermal efficiency and prevent rotting from the inside. Gently blow into the Windsock® from a slight distance - this draws in dry air from the surroundings and allows quick inflation.
Repair patches are supplied with the mat, handy if the mat gets damaged during use or while being carried around with other pieces of kit.
