What is the Gold Camp 3 Tarp?
Similar to the standard Gold Camp 3 Tarp, this UL (ultra-light) version is a versatile shelter that you can use for minimal, faster-paced group adventures. You can pair it with the mesh inner (sold separately) when you want the entire set-up to escape pesky insects, making it ideal for travelling in various conditions and climates without weighing yourself down.
What is it made of?
Tarp: To reduce the weight of the tarp, Big Agnes has constructed this UL version with 20D polyester ripstop. Though a lighter denier, the material is still incredibly durable and can withstand abrasion well in rugged terrain. It has a 1500mm polyurethane coating, making it completely waterproof, maximising protection in harsher conditions.
Pole: The pole is made with a light yet robust 6061 aluminium. It offers reliable support for your tent in all weather and has an adjustable height, allowing you to customise the set-up of your tent easily.
What are its features?
Entry: The Gold Camp 3 Tarp UL has a single-door configuration with a storm flap to help prevent bad weather from seeping in. When you want to leave it open, if you're chilling out in camp or embracing the morning sun, you can toggle the door onto the tent body to stop it from flapping around in the breeze.
Space: A square-shaped base optimises sitting/sleeping room for three people. You could even use it for two if you're seeking a little extra space in between for keeping your backpacks and belongings nearby.
Storage: An interior loop system makes this tent compatible with the Big Agnes Gear Lofts if you want to keep your essentials organised for multi-day camps. You could also attach mtnGLO lights for extra visibility at night and other accessories (sold separately).
Ventilation: Low vent technology on the door increases ventilation and airflow in warmer or more humid environments. There's also one supported upper vent with a mesh lining to help manage moisture and reduce condensation build-up as you catch those all-important z's.
Guys, attachments and pegs: The structure can be supported in two different ways, using the included centre pole, as previously mentioned, or by suspending it with the exterior peak loop. Adjustable stake-out loops make set-up simple. Reflective mid-body guy-out points keep the structure taught and stable while increasing visibility in poor or dark conditions to help stop you from tripping over them if you have to nip out for a midnight wee.
Optional extras: We always recommend investing in a tent footprint to help prolong the life of your tent and reduce wear and tear from regular use. The Gold Camp 3 Tarp Footprint is sold separately and is not included with this product.
Additionally, suppose you want some added protection from pesky mozzies and no-see-um's. In that case, the Gold Camp 3 Mesh Inner can be purchased separately, ideal for hotter conditions and bug-infested climates.
As mentioned, for extra storage and organisation, you can add a Big Agnes Gear Loft to your set-up (also sold separately); the Gold Camp 3 is compatible with Big Agnes' Triangle Gear Loft model.
