What is the Expedition Padded Cap?
Developed with the help of real dogsled mushers, the Expedition Padded Cap is a warm winter cap designed with synthetic insulation to provide ample protection in cold or snowy conditions. Not only is it ideal for dogsledding and polar activities, but it also works well for mid-winter adventures where you require that extra bit of shielding from the elements.
What is it made of?
The outer material uses recycled nylon that provides fantastic durability and weather resistance. Inside, the hat is filled with synthetic insulation made with 50% recycled polyester.
Synthetic insulation can be more beneficial than down, especially in damp conditions. Though it's usually not as light, synthetic insulation retains heat when wet, keeping you warm no matter the weather. As it's likely that this hat will be exposed to the elements, this insulation works perfectly for remaining effective in cold or freezing conditions, helping protect from harsh blizzards, frostbite and heavy snow.
A brushed tricot lining feels luxuriously soft next to the skin, adding that much-needed bit of comfort for long mountain days.
What are its features?
Elastic at the rear of the hat cinches in the material for a better fit.
The brim is soft and foldable, making it easier to wear this hat with a headlamp and more packable for stowing away into a pocket, backpack or kit bag when not in use.
You can fold the side flaps down to amplify ear and neck protection against cold, harsh winds or fold them up when conditions are milder.
Last but not least, you'll find a drawcord adjuster around the neckline that helps to seal out the weather and retain all warmth when the flaps are down.
