What is the Singi X-Cap?
The Singi X-Cap is a weather-resistant, insulated hat designed for hiking and trekking in colder conditions. It's the ideal accessory for adventures between autumn and winter, whether in the UK or further afield, and is light enough to easily stuff into a backpack or pocket.
What is it made of?
This hat is made from 100% high-density ripstop, calendereexd BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) cotton.
The Better Cotton Initiative is a world-leading sustainability initiative for cotton. It works to help communities centred around cotton farming to survive and thrive whilst contributing to the protection and restoration of our environment.
How do they do this? There are many targets and objectives set by the BCI each year to help them reach their end goal; for example, aiming to embed sustainable cotton farming practices and policies, enhancing the well-being and economic development of cotton farmers, workers and communities that rely on cotton production as a primary source of income, and driving global demand for sustainably produced cotton. That's just to name a few! After a decade of operation, over a fifth of the world's cotton is now being made under the Better Cotton standard - a number that will hopefully grow over the years to come.
Though sustainable, this cotton doesn't compromise quality or performance! Its dense nature is incredibly durable and abrasion resistant, meaning it'll be able to take a heck of a beating and still last you for years to come.
The Singi X-Cap is also lightly insulated with synthetic insulation. Synthetic insulation can be more beneficial than down, especially in damp conditions as it retains heat when wet, keeping you warm no matter the weather. As it's likely that this hat will be exposed to the elements, this insulation works perfectly for remaining effective in cold and wet conditions, ideal for use during autumn and winter.
A brushed tricot lining feels luxuriously soft next to the skin, adding that much-needed bit of comfort for long mountain days.
What are its features?
The flat forehead allows you to simultaneously wear the cap and a headlamp without interfering. The short, flexible brim keeps weight and bulk low whilst providing ample shielding from the sun.
Ear flaps comfortably shelter the ears and neck, and elastic at the rear of the hat cinches in the material for a better fit.
