Exemptions

What is the Shadow Hoody?

The Shadow Hoody features the breathability of a fleece with a wind and water-resistant outer fabric. It excels when moving fast in technical environments when breathability is paramount but you need a little more protection than a standard fleece.

What is it made of?

The Shadow Hoody uses Rab's Thermic Pro fabric throughout. Think of this fabric as a halfway point between a fleece and a softshell; it'll offer far more protection and durability than fleece, however, it's more breathable than your standard softshell and will allow a little wind to pass through to cool you down when working hard. Despite its incredible breathability, it offers water resistance, wind resistance and protection from general mountain abuse.

Inside you've got a soft brushed fleece that wicks away sweat and provides a soft surface for your skin to sit against.

What are the features?

Starting at the top, an under-helmet hood provides extra protection when climbing or scrambling. Two zipped hand pockets store essentials that you need to keep close to hand, while an elasticated hem drawcord seals in warmth and can be adjusted with one hand. Internal stretchy cuffs sit really nicely next to skin and prevent debris making its way up the arm when climbing; these cuffs also have thumb loops. Lastly, a large zip toggle allows you to find it easily with bulky gloves.

How does it fit?

The Shadow Hoody fits into Rab's Women's 'regular' fit block, meaning there's room to layer underneath, yet it can be cinched in when just wearing a baselayer. The length of the body and arms is average, so it should suit most users.

Where does it fit in the layering system?

Unlike your standard fleece which will most likely sit as your mid layer in the mountains, the Shadow can either be used as an outer layer when the weather is on your side or as a mid layer if you need some added protection in harsh conditions.

Measure from the top of the inside leg to the floor.

5Sleeve

This is a bit more tricky! Measure from the top of your spine (at the bottom of your neck) to your elbow and on the your wrist

6Arm

You should place the beginning of the measuring tape behind your shoulder, and feed it out following your arm making sure to pass both the elbow joint and the wrist, as pictured. You should take the measurement at the point where you would like the sleeve to end. This is usually just past your wrist.
