What are the Super Terra Pants?
The new Super Terra Pants from Montane build on the superb reputation of the existing Terra Pants with the addition of increased durability and strength through technologically advanced fabrics and construction techniques. All while shedding unnecessary weight without compromising on features. Making them perfectly suited to being used and abused while out mountain walking and mountaineering.
What are the Super Terra Pants made from?
The Supper Terra Pants are mainly made from Montane's proprietory GRANITE nylon fabric, a durable fabric that is slightly stretchy, breathable with a soft cotton-like feel. The Super Terra is also coated with a durable water repellent coating to keep the light rain off. If you happen to get caught out in the rain, the trousers dry exceptionally quickly and are comfortable even when wet.
Cordura Hydro fabric is used on the seat, knees and insteps to increase abrasion and water resistance. Cordura Hydro has a 3000mm hydrostatic head to protect your knees and backside from wet ground conditions when sitting and kneeling. The use of Cordura in the instep area is there to protect your lovely new trousers from crampons, ski edges and bulky mountaineering boots.
What are the features?
Pre articulated knees allow ease of movement, especially when stepping high during climbing and scrambling, and triple stitching is used in vulnerable areas to increase durability.
You get plenty of pockets for all your essentials; there are two zipped hand pockets, a zipped rear pocket and an internal pocket that will secure your card or keys. Plus, two large gusseted zipped cargo thigh pockets for added storage for those bulkier items. The hand pockets are mesh-lined, so when they are unzipped, they double vents to cool you down when you're working hard. You also get two deep thigh vents that allow you to dump heat quickly and effectively!
The waistband is worth mentioning due to the soft microfleece lining that wicks away moisture and reduces rubbing. While the elasticated sections on the hips give some flexibility on fit if you are slightly between sizes. The removable webbing belt with a low profile buckle provides secure fastening without being too bulky.
At the hems, press stud adjusters fine-tune the volume around your boots. The gaiter hooks provide a secure fit to stop your trouser legs from lifting and seal out any unwanted drafts.
Montane has thought long and hard about the function and design of these pants, resulting in a burly, practical pair of mountaineering trousers suitable for all mountain activities. They are also compatible with Montane braces!
