What are the Aerios AR Mid GTX's?
These are the ideal backpacking boot solution for challenging, multi-day adventures in harsh conditions. They offer waterproof yet breathable protection thanks to their built-in Gore-Tex® membrane, whilst feeling super comfortable and looking pretty stylish too, thanks to their clean, minimal design.
What are they made of?
These boots are constructed with a combination of Gore-Tex®, Ultralon® foam, woven polyester and a Vibram® XS Trek outsole - super sturdy stuff for a super sturdy boot.
Lining: Gore-Tex® - The lining is where the Gore-Tex® membrane sits to create a waterproof barrier against the foot. Gore-Tex® is a high performance, market leading waterproof membrane which also offers breathable coverage to promote temperature regulation and overall comfort.
Upper: The upper is made of PFC free Woven Polyester which offers a durable yet lightweight solution to protect all the techy stuff inside. It has quick drying properties, ideal for wet conditions, helping prevent excess water sitting in the outer fabric for long periods - wave goodbye to squelchy boots! The tight, woven construction forces debris to shed off the shoe quickly to create an undefeatable layer.
Midsole: Ethel Vinyl Acetate (EVA) is a synthetic man-made foam that is exceptionally robust and durable. An injected EVA midsole creates a tough, shock absorbing support for the foot to help improve comfort and stability in tricky terrain.
Outsole: Vibram® XS Trek - Vibram® outsoles are known in the outdoor industry for being extremely reliable and durable. The Vibram® XS Trek outsole uses a technical rubber with deep 5mm lugs. This outsole offers superb traction, responsivity and stability, allowing you to feel confident on unpredictable terrain.
What are the features?
These backpacking boots deliver support and protection to keep your feet happy when put through their paces, with outstanding freedom of movement for longer, more technical adventures.
At the top of the boot, there is a pre-shaped, 3D, articulated Ultralon® collar and tongue, which moves with the ankle, offering extra support and helping to seal out debris from loose surfaces or scree.
A highly breathable, hydrophobic heel collar lining helps prevent water from sneaking in at the back and improves overall comfort, minimising restriction around vital areas.
Moulded rubber toe caps offer extra protection in high wear areas. They provide better durability and are also great for climbing or scrambling up rocky inclines as they keep the toe in shape, so you can cram it into awkward crevices and crack on with your ascent.
Built into the midsole structure is a TPU midfoot chassis, offering torsional support and structure, keeping the boot in a solid, natural shape with minimal weight and bulk and improving underfoot protection.
