What is the Odin Mountain Infinity? The Odin Mountain has been designed in collaboration with mountain leaders to provide a waterproof jacket that's not only reliably waterproof in all weather conditions, but one that does so in a sustainable and innovative manner.
What is it made of?The Odin uses Helly Hansen's Lifa Infinity Pro technology to provide total protection without the environmental harm of many alternatives. This technology includes Helly's Lifa outer fabric, Lifa Infinity membrane and super-breathable inner. Starting from the outside and moving our way in, Helly Hansen have developed an outer fabric unlike anything currently available — thanks to its clever construction, it doesn't require the use of harmful chemicals to maintain water repellency, it's just naturally water repellent. This means you have an outer fabric that is permanently water repellent and needs no 'topping up'. Lifa outer fabrics aren't just hassle-free; they have a 16% lower environmental impact compared to polyester with an 18% saving in CO2 eq impact.A Lifa Infinity membrane sits underneath this innovative outer fabric and provides total waterproof and windproof protection while maintaining a high degree of breathability. This membrane features millions of tiny holes which are too small for water droplets to pass through (rain), but large enough for water vapour (sweat) to pass through. This clever construction means it'll withstand the worst weather you can throw at it, yet won't feel like a bin bag when you get moving! Finally, a super breathable and comfortable inner fabric protects the membrane and actively wicks away sweat as you move. What are its features?Starting with storage, it features one zipped chest pocket, two zipped hand pockets that are placed nice and high to avoid rucksack hipbelts and climbing harnesses and one massive internal dump pocket with an integrated slot for your ski pass. While we're on the topic of snowsports, the hood is helmet-compatible and there's a detachable snow skirt to keep your back free from powder. The hood is adjustable both vertically and horizontally to fit your head securely when not wearing a helmet and a stiffened brim keeps the rain and snow away from your face. Underneath the arms, the Odin features pitzips to allow you to dump heat when working hard. Lastly, the cuffs and hem are adjustable to either seal out the elements or let in a bit of extra air.
How does it fit?It features Helly's 'regular' fit, meaning it's not tight, it's not baggy, it's just in the middle. It's large enough to fit multiple layers underneath including an insulation layer, however when just worn over a baselayer, there won't be bucket loads of excess fabric. For reference on length, it features an 80cm centre back length.- Permanently water repellent outer fabric

Care and maintenance
To keep your outdoor clothing and equipment in tip top condition and performing to its maximum we recommend the use of Nikwax products. We have been using Nikwax products since day one (26th March 1986) and have found them to be totally reliable, dependable and effective. Today’s Nikwax treatments contain environmentally friendly elastic water-repellent polymers that bond to fabric fibres, leaving the spaces between open and breathable. These stretchy polymers are able to stretch and move with the fabric so they stay put for longer and work better.
Nikwax treatments will not change the look or feel of the fabric and they are all water based, environmentally safe, non-flammable and contain no nasty Fluorocarbons. Nikwax products can be used to clean, re-proof and revitalise all your outdoor technical clothing and equipment.
Waterproof breathable clothing has a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish applied to the face fabric during the manufacturing process. The DWR forces water to bead up and roll off the surface therefore preventing the fabric from absorbing moisture. If the outside of your jacket is soaked in a layer of cold water, the warm damp air within can’t escape and will condense on the inside. This makes the jacket feel cold clammy and can make you think that it’s leaking. The DWR finish is not permanent and needs to be maintained and revitalised to optimise performance.
This three layer waterproof jacket should be cleaned regularly with Nikwax Tech Wash; I wash my jacket about once a month, or more often if it gets really filthy. Regular washing with Tech Wash will maintain the DWR for longer and remove salts and oils that can contaminate the fabric, and it will keep your lovely jacket clean and smelling fresh. Washing can be done in a machine according to the manufacturers care guidelines (on the internal label). First clean out any detergent and conditioner residue from the machine dispenser and then add the required amount of Tech Wash and away you go. Hand washing is also suitable but be sure to rinse the garment well.
When you notice that rain/water is no longer beading up and rolling off it’s time to re-proof. Nikwax TX Direct will re-instate a long lasting DWR to completely rejuvenate your jacket. Re-proofing can also be done in the machine once a garment has been washed. Just add the TX-Direct and use the same programme you used for washing. You can also use the spray-on product on a damp garment that has just been washed.
You wouldn’t buy a Ferrari and never have it serviced, so make sure you regularly wash and re-proof your quality kit.
