Rab Storm Bivi Chlorite Green

Season:AW25

Brand:Rab

Code:MR-68-CHG

What is the Storm Bivi?

The Rab Storm Bivi is a lightweight, breathable, waterproof bivi designed to wrap around a sleeping bag, offering optimised protection from the elements.

Bivis, or bivvy bags, are often used instead of tents or shelters by mountaineers or backpackers who want to carry minimum equipment. A bivi is packable and lightweight. Therefore, it is a much easier option to carry around on long expeditions than lugging around tent poles and heavy material.

What is it made of?

The Storm Bivi is constructed with a breathable 40D ripstop nylon on top and 70D nylon at the base, with a PU coating for rugged, waterproof protection. The fabric is treated with a fluorocarbon free durable water repellent (DWR) which helps to create extra resistance against elements like rain and wind, whilst being a more sustainable choice than your average bivi. Fluorocarbon free finishes are much more eco friendly as they don't use any chemicals that would cause harm to the environment.

To put into perspective how waterproof this fabric is, the hydrostatic head of your average tent flysheet (basically, the amount of water it'll withstand before allowing it to pass through) is around 3000mm - the Storm Bivi's is 10000mm.

What are its features?

The Storm Bivi is constructed with a three-dimensional pattern, which means it can accommodate larger size sleeping bags. There is a zipped main entry with a breathable mesh panel at the top of the bag for added ventilation and ease of use. Nylon ripstop offers a sturdy, durable layer to slip your sleeping bag in, helping to decrease the chance of you ripping or snagging the bivi and sleeping bag when lying on rougher surfaces. Whilst rugged and durable, the fabric is also lightweight and breathable, helping regulate temperature and improve comfort when you're tucked up in your sleeping bag/bivi burrito.

Features:

  • Lightweight, waterproof, breathable fabric
  • 40D ripstop nylon and 70D nylon, both PU coated
  • Fluorocarbon free DWR
  • 10000mm hydrostatic head
  • Three dimensional construction for larger sleeping bags
  • Zipped main entry with breathable mesh panel
  • Packable

2Waist

Measure around your natural waist as show in the diagram

3Inseam

Measure your inside leg from crotch to ankle blone keeping your leg straight: not as easy as it sounds, you could take a pair of trousers that you already own, that fit you well, and measure from the crotch to the bottom of the leg.

4Sleeve

This is a bit more tricky! Measure from the top of your spine (at the bottom of your neck) to your elbow and on the your wrist

5Arm

You should place the beginning of the measuring tape behind your shoulder, and feed it out following your arm making sure to pass both the elbow joint and the wrist, as pictured. You should take the measurement at the point where you would like the sleeve to end. This is usually just past your wrist.
