What are the Trail Gaiters?
Montane's Trail Gaiters are shoe and ankle guards designed primarily for trail and mountain running, although they work well for hill walking and hiking if you're seeking something lighter with less coverage. They have a lightweight construction and prevent scree, debris and water from getting inside your trainers.
What are they made of?
These gaiters are made with Raptor Flex. Raptor Flex offers a four-way stretch, allowing you to move freely through technical terrain, whilst being lightweight and packable, so even if you're venturing abroad, they won't take up much room in your kit bag. Though light, this material is durable enough to withstand bumps and scrapes from regular use in various environments.
The material is coated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent), which enhances water resistance without using chemicals that are harsh to the environment. However, please note this won't make the gaiters fully waterproof, so if they get submersed in a stream or puddle or hit by constant heavy rain, they won't offer complete protection.
What are their features?
The Trail Gaiters are designed with a stretchy fit around the ankle to accommodate movement and different ankle sizes. They have an elasticated heel and grip to stop them from moving around as you walk, ensuring they stay in place throughout your adventure.
The front lace hook ensures that the material stays secure to the front and protects the upper effectively.
Underneath, the underfoot strap is elasticated and adjustable, allowing you to adapt them to different footwear shapes and sizes. If the strap gets knackered from years of use, it's also replaceable, which will save you from forking out for a whole new pair of gaiters, doing both your wallet and the planet a favour. What's more, you get spare underfoot straps included with the product - win-win!
Montane has finished the design with subtle reflective detailing, helping to boost visibility for poor conditions or after-dark pursuits.
