The Silva Expedition 360 Global Compass, as the name suggests, can be used in all three magnetic time zone's around the world. Unlike most compasses, the Global 360 is still precise, accurate and reliable when in a different time zone and is intended to be used by experienced users and professionals who depend on their kit.
Included with the compass is a slope card, a distance lanyard, a built in magnifier and hot stamped graphics to last years of abuse. The slope card is brilliant for detecting an avalanche risk and for judging how strenuous the journey will be, while the distance lanyard allows you to plan your journey time and distance. This lanyard features two scales, 1:25 and 1:50. Improving the ease of use of the compass is Silva's DryFlex rubber grip, allowing the compass to stick to a map or hard surface, even when wet. While we're on the topic, if the compass does get soaking wet you'll appreciate it's full weather-sealing.
Other features include a clinometer for measuring slope angles, a build in adjuster for magnetic declination, measurements in mm and inches, scales in 1:25k, 1:40k and 1:50k and GPS, a curved baseplate to fit better in the band, a transparent base to make looking at the map easier, luminous markings to be visible in the dark and hot stamped graphics to deal with years of abuse. The needle is made of the finest Swedish steel and the overall quality is second to none.
