What is the Boulder X Mid?
These mid-cut hiking boots from La Sportiva offer reliable protection for days in the mountains where the weather and terrain can be unpredictable.
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper is made from a durable suede leather with a protective rubber rand. It's abrasion resistant. Therefore it can take a good beating from rough surfaces and rock without wearing down quickly.
Lining: The lining uses Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort. Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort is specialised technology that provides waterproof breathability, performing best in moderate to warm conditions or high-intensity activity. Extended Comfort prevents water from seeping inside the shoe yet is permeable enough to let sweat vapour escape, helping regulate temperature and improve comfort levels.
Sole: The super sticky Vibram® IdroGrip sole offers superb grip on slippery rocks and smooth surfaces. It has a built in Impact Brake System, which helps improve traction and downhill grip. Impact absorption is maximised with the unique position of the lugs under the foot, as it encourages as many of them as possible to come into contact with the ground.
What are the features?
The mid cut of these boots offers extra support and structure around the ankle, which feels super comfy when scrambling and hiking through rougher, uneven grounds.
Inspired by the Mythos project, these boots have a patented lacing system that runs all the way down to the toe to get a much more enhanced fit to suit various foot shapes and fit preferences.
The Boulder X Mid boots have a graded microporous midsole and shock absorbing EVA 2mm insert throughout the insole which offers supreme comfort and cushioning under the foot for longer distance hikes.
Climbing zone sits around the toe, which is basically super tough rubber protection that surrounds the toebox. It's fantastic in rocky environments as it offers extra shielding from rock and hard surfaces, alongside more shape and structure for scrambling to keep your foot in a safe, natural position.
These boots also have 100% recycled lace, a subtle nod to the sustainable direction that La Sportiva is heading towards.
