What are the Aenergy Mtn Mid GTX Shoes?
Thanks to their lightweight, durable, waterproof construction, they're the perfect year-round shoe for fast-paced hiking and backpacking missions.
What are they made of?
These shoes have a synthetic jacquard mesh upper that delivers ample abrasion resistance and durability with a fraction of the weight.
The material is impregnated with a PFC-free durable water repellent (DWR), adding to its water resistance and encouraging light rain and snow to bead away.
PFC-free means perfluorinated chemical-free. Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), used to add water repellent to textiles, aren't able to break down, so once they reach nature via factory water waste, they stay in the ecosystem and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFCs are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect mammal reproduction and hormone production. Therefore, many leading brands in the outdoor industry are now prioritising cutting out the use of these chemicals entirely to contribute to a more responsible manufacturing process.
Gore-Tex® waterproof lining provides ample waterproof protection without hindering breathability, enhancing temperature regulation and moisture management for intense hill days and PB sessions on your favourite trail.
Ortholite insoles offer further comfort for all-day wear, and a Flextron shank improves torsional stability while reducing foot fatigue by limiting energy output throughout your session.
Vibram Megagrip soles, with a lug depth of 5mm, offer confident traction in wet and dry conditions, making these shoes incredibly versatile and suitable for year-round use. The soles use 'rocker' shaping, which is slightly rounded at the end of the feet to provide smooth landing and easy toe-off movement.
Mammut works with FairWear to ensure safe, ethical working conditions in their factories, helping protect workers' rights and being considerate and responsible with their processes.
What are their features?
The mid-height design provides a little more protection, support and stability for the ankles and helps prevent rocks and debris from getting into the shoes.
A pre-shaped, elasticated tongue construction further enhances comfort and flexibility, while a protective rubber rand at the toe absorbs shock from rocks and debris.
The standard lacing system keeps the otherwise technical shoe nice and simple and offers a clean, minimal look for all types of adventures.
