What are the Ferrata Tour GTX Boots?
They're multi-functional, high-alpine mountaineering boots built with premium materials and Gore-Tex® waterproof technology. The Ferrata Tour GTX's provide ample protection in mixed and wintry terrain, even in glaciated sections where crampons are a must.
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper of these boots is made from high-quality Perwanger suede, which is incredibly durable and breathable. Suede embossing down the sides of the boot allows the material to retain its shape and helps prevent it from stretching and becoming loose over time, whilst still being pliable enough to flex and deal with technical manoeuvres and steep ascents.
Lining: The boots are lined with a classic Gore-Tex® membrane for maximum waterproof protection and breathability, keeping you both comfortable and protected from the elements at all times.Duratherm technology is added to the lining to help insulate the feet, enhancing warmth in freezing conditions and helping to prevent frostbite.
Sole: The Vibram® Mont sole combined with a Hanwag Integral Light tread design provides exceptional grip and stability on rocky terrain. Vibram® Mont soles are incredibly durable and have been used to conquer the highest peaks in the world. They offer the highest reliability in the sketchiest terrains at low temperatures; what more could you want?!
What are their features?
These boots feature Hanwag's LFX Technology (Lateral Flex Technology), which places flexible, abrasion-resistant polyamide fabric inserts around the flex zones of the foot, giving the upper a more controlled amount of lateral movement. Combined with the premium suede material, this upper provides ample stability and enough flexibility around the ankle to allow precise placement on the rock.
The optimised ghilly lacing system looks traditional and is easy to use; it runs right down to the toes to allow you to reduce the volume further and create a secure, precise fit. The lacing system also features a Hanwag Two Zone Lock, which securely fixes the laces in place using a mechanical lace lock to ensure no slippage when wearing the boots. This way, you can get on with your adventure instead of worrying that your footwear is loosening!
TubeTec Rock sole technology delivers a perfect balance of comfort and performance and allows the foot to rock more naturally off the ground with each step.
A heel welt lets you attach semi-automatic B2 crampons for snow and ice missions.
Last (pardon the pun) but certainly not least, these boots are made using an Alpine Wide Last. What does this mean? A last is used to mould the boot's shape to a foot. Hanwag's Alpine Wide Last has a slightly narrower shape to cup the foot yet has a wider forefoot area to help alleviate pressure in the toe box and accommodate broader feet and thicker, technical socks, which will help reduce the risk of frostbite even further.
