What is the Skogsö Jacket?
The Skogsö Jacket is a versatile, casual jacket design for trekking, walking and everyday outdoor use. It's built to provide light protection from wind and light weather, while remaining breathable and comfortable for long days out on the hill. Created from a combination of Fjallraven's G-1000 materials, its weather protection can be enhanced with Greenland wax.
Materials & Technology
G-1000 Lite Fabric
The majority of the jacket is constructed from Fjallraven's G-1000 Lite fabric, which is simply a lighter, more flexible version of their classic G-1000. It's still made from a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton, which is tightly woven for wind resistance while allowing ample breathability and moisture to escape during activity. Though lighter, this material still offers excellent durability with ample flexibility to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
G-1000 Reinforcements
The shoulders and hood are reinforced with Fjallraven's iconic G1000® fabric for added durability when worn with a rucksack or heavy trekking pack. Renowned for its exceptional durability and adaptability, this densely woven material is made from 65% recycled polyester and 35% organic cotton. This fantastic fabric is ventilating, hardwearing, weather-resistant and with the right care can withstand a lifetime of adventures, making it the perfect companion for a life outdoors. G1000® is so reliable and trustworthy, Fjallraven has been using it since 1968!
Adaptable Weather Protection
Both G-1000 fabrics can be adapted to different personal preferences or climatic conditions using Greenland Wax. The wax allows you to customise the fabric's properties, such as wind and water resistance and breathability, in certain areas or across the entire garment, allowing you to adapt the jacket to suit each season.
Greenland Wax is easy to apply - you can literally do it anywhere! If you'd like to learn more about how to apply it correctly, check out our short YouTube tutorial by clicking here.
Features and Functionality
Adjustable Hood
A fixed, two-way adjustable hood allows you to easily create a secure fit in windy conditions, providing shelter from the elements while maintaining visibility and comfort.
Protective Front Zip
The jacket is fastened with a two-way front zip with a protective flap to help prevent wind and moisture from entering through the zip. The two-zip provides flexible ventilation options, should you start to warm up on steep sections of trail.
Practical Pocket Layout
For storage, you'll find two chest pockets and two hand pockets, both with protective storm flaps. Together, they provide ample space for daily essentials, from a mobile phone and keys to trail snacks.
Pre-Shaped Sleeves
Pre-shaped sleeves improve freedom of movement by providing a more natural shape and range of movement through the arms, increasing comfort levels during use and when layering.
Drop Tail Design
A slightly longer rear hem provides additional coverage across the lower back for added protection from the elements, particularly when bending or reaching down.
Adjustable Fit
The jacket is finished with adjustable cuffs and an elasticated bottom hem to allow you to refine the fit over various layers and seal out drafts on windy days, helping the jacket retain warmth.
