What is the Fireball?
The Fireball is a breathable, lightweight and weather-resistant insulated jacket. It has been designed for cold weather adventures in changeable conditions. It’s the ideal layer for hiking, scrambling and mountaineering. The Fireball has been designed to be a reliable winter mid-layer or an outer layer in the drier in-between seasons. It will keep you warm and comfortable when working hard in cold conditions!
What is the Fireball made of?
Insulation: Insulating the Jacket is 55% recycled Clo Vivo Extreme Eco synthetic insulation which has been designed for working hard in the most extreme conditions. The benefit of synthetic insulation over down is that it will retain its warmth even if it gets wet. It also dries quicky and packs down small so you can stash it in your pack when you’re not using it.
Outer: Montane use Featherlite Air on the outer and it the lining of the Fireball. As the name suggests, this nylon fabric is lightweight and also extremely comfortable. It feels great next to skin if you’re wearing a short sleeve top underneaith it, but its smooth face also means that it will slide on underneath a shell really easily. The 4-way stretch in the material means that the jacket moves with you and won’t hinder your movement – important when you’re scrambling and climbing. Lastly, the outside of the jacket is then given a DWR coating to help shed light rain and snow. This doesn’t make the jacket waterproof, so we still recommend taking a hardshell jacket in your pack.
What are the features?
Starting from the top the Fireball Jacket features a snug-fitting insulated hood which is designed to fit under a climbing helmet when belaying or mountaineering. Articulated arms with Montane's technical tailoring means the jacket doesn’t rise up when you’re reaching for holds above your head. Pockets wise, you get two hand pockets and another on the chest, which are the perfect size to fit your phone, compass and a packet of jelly babies. Lastly, an adjustable hem and elasticated cuffs help keep out cold winds.
