What is the VR Summit Jacket?
It's a fantastic, ultra-breathable, versatile, weather-resistant softshell jacket designed to keep you comfortable during fast-paced mountain adventures. It uses a combination of Pertex® Quantum Air and Rab's Vapour-Rise fabric for the perfect balance of comfort, breathability and weather protection.
What is it made from?
The outer of the jacket is constructed from 20D Pertex® Quantum Air. Pertex® Quantum Air is designed for intense, fast-paced mountain missions. It's lined with lightweight body-mapped mesh to help balance wind resistance and breathability, providing the ultimate performance for high-output activities. It's treated with a lightweight DWR (durable water repellent) that encourages light rain and snow to bead off the material instead of soaking in; however, please note that this doesn't make it fully waterproof.
The jacket is lined with Rab's Vapour-Rise™ airflow lining for reliable warmth, excellent moisture management and wind resistance. This lining is highly effective at regulating your body temperature and excels in challenging environments and varied temperatures, allowing you to push your limits without overheating.
What are its features?
A snug-fitting hood provides protection from the elements; designed to sit underneath a climbing helmet comfortably, it's fully elasticated around the face to help improve heat retention.
There is a lightweight YKK two-way zip closure to the front of the jacket, with a fleece-lined chin guard to stop it from catching on your face or causing any discomfort whilst fully zipped. The main zipper is easy to use with a climbing harness and provides quick ventilation if you're working up a sweat on a steep climb without having to unzip the jacket entirely.
For storage, two large zipped chest pockets provide space for your trail essentials like a mobile phone, GPS device, guidebooks, gloves and energy gels.
Elasticated binding to the cuffs improves the jacket's heat retention and aids lasting comfort when worn for long periods. They also make it easier to check your smartwatch whilst on the move.
The elasticated bottom hem can be cinched in to prevent cold drafts from blowing up into the jacket. It is adjustable from one side and features an anti-snag tether to stop it from catching on rocks, climbing equipment and other sharp items during your adventure.
How does it fit?
Featuring Rab's regular fit, the VR Alpine Light Jacket sits close enough to perform well as an insulating layer while providing space for a layer or two underneath.
Where does it fit into the layering system?
The VR Alpine Light Jacket can be worn as a protective outer layer on dry, mild days or layered underneath a waterproof shell jacket during periods of heavy, prolonged precipitation.
