What is the Aktse Jacket?

The Aktse Jacket is a Gore-Tex® waterproof jacket built for multi-activity adventures and year-round use. Whether trekking during the spring or skiing in the winter, it'll keep you protected throughout. Updated materials make the Aktse a more sustainable alternative too, perfect for the more eco-conscious adventurer.

What is it made of?

The jacket comprises a lightweight two-layer Gore-Tex® material. This updated Gore® material uses an ePE membrane, a key milestone in the leading brand's responsible performance journey. If you were wondering, ePE stands for expanded polyethylene, which is light, thin yet durable, and PFC-free. If you're familiar with Trekitt descriptions, you may have seen that 'PFC-free' phrase floating around before. PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. Many companies are working towards a completely PFC-free future, so this is quite a breakthrough for the Gore-Tex® brand! In addition, this membrane has a reduced carbon footprint, as it uses laminates with a lower-mass membrane and select textiles, making it an ideal choice for more environmentally conscious adventurers.

The material itself provides complete waterproof and windproof protection, with ample breathability to prevent sweat and condensation from building up inside, helping regulate body temperature. Overall, it has been rigorously tested to ensure a long-lasting product life, which adds to those eco-friendly credentials, as you won't need to buy a new replacement for a long time, saving energy, resources and waste.

The face fabric is treated with a PFCec-free DWR (durable water repellent) to enhance weather protection without causing detrimental harm to the environment, by avoiding using per-fluorinated chemicals.

Materials are also bluesign® approved, meaning it's manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.

What are its features?

The jacket comes with a fully adjustable hood that allows you to cinch in when the weather's blowing a hooley. Microfleece panels around the chin's storm flap help protect your skin from rubbing or catching on the zip when the jacket is fully fastened.

A full yoke provides ample freedom of movement around the shoulders.

An internal storm flap helps to seal the wind and weather out, and at the bottom, you'll also find a button that seals the hem, meaning you can leave the jacket unzipped for ventilation without having it flap around in the wind.

For further ventilation or a quick heat dump, unzip the vents at the side. Velcro-adjusted cuffs allow you to adapt the fit over chunky smartwatches, gloves and mitts, or cinch them around smaller wrists, should you have nothing underneath. A hem adjuster cinches in the bottom of the jacket to seal out drafts and help balance your body's microclimate for better temperature regulation.

For storage, an external chest pocket provides easy access to small essentials, whether a GPS, trail snacks, energy gels or a ski pass.

A hanger loop at the back adds convenience for drying out, whether in camp or at home.

Last but not least, the Aktse is finished with reflective details inside the hem of the sleeves, which you can fold up to improve visibility when adventuring in poor conditions or after sundown.
