What is the Konseal 40?
This is a technical climbing backpack with a 40 litre capacity, perfect to take you from one boulder to the next. It has a hardy, abrasion resistant, mixed nylon face to withstand multi-day ascents on the rocks and even on exposed routes in challenging conditions.
What is it made of?
Constructed with a burly Hadron™ grid nylon lid and 690D Cordura® body, this pack can easily hold out against heavy wear, making it a super durable, long-lasting companion for all your climbing adventures.
Hadron™ Grid Fabric is a strong nylon constructed to withstand abrasion, perfect for climbing packs as it can resist scrapes against rock and rough terrain. Its durable properties create a fantastic protective carry for climbing equipment that will last a lifetime!
Cordura® is a reliable nylon fabric with excellent tear strength and abrasion resistance. Cordura® materials are recognised for their long-lasting durability, which has given them a fantastic reputation within the outdoor industry, perfect for climbing packs that get bashed from pillar to post.
Which backsystem does it use?
The Konseal doesn't use a specific technical backsystem, which reduces the pack's overall weight and bulk, ideal for climbers who want something lighter that will not impact their performance during an ascent. However, the Konseal 40 does use a HDPE framesheet with an aluminium stay. The framesheet helps the bag stay structured when mounted, helping it feel more stable and comfortable to carry.
What features does it have?
The Konseal 40 has plenty of space to carry essential climbing gear whilst keeping it clean and protected, and a minimal design that looks super sleek and modern.
Inside, padding in the sidewalls and base offer protection to equipment if the bag is dropped or thrown around on the rocks. The Konseal 40 has a stand-up design that makes it much easier to pack up or unload outside, helping keep the kit clean as it's less likely to fall and spill in the dirt. A wide zippered top opens up nicely to get into the main compartment, so packing bulky items like ropes or shoes is less of a squeeze.
Top and bottom lid pockets provide extra storage for small essentials like a phone, GPS, snacks or energy gels, which are easy to access if you need a quick fix.
The pack has a comfortable, padded harness made up of dual-density foam shoulder straps and a hipbelt to draw the weight down into the hips, helping to prevent back pain or ache when the bag is mounted. These straps are structured to offer more accurate support, making them less of a burden to carry on the slog up to the next route.
Removable compression straps compress the load when the bag is not fully packed. This helps stop objects moving around when it's being carried, cinching in the bag and compacting the contents. If items are moving around in your bag, it often causes discomfort and also just feels really annoying, as it can send you off balance every time the kit wobbles around.
To finish, there are multiple grab points dotted around the design for a quick grab-and-go alternative, these are super handy if you need to run over to the next crag before sundown!
