What is the Neon 45?
It's a 45-litre climbing backpack designed to keep your kit neatly organised. This pack has a strong feature list for days on the wall and is built with durable materials that are bluesign® and Fair Wear approved.
What is it made of?
The Neon is made with polyamide, which is incredibly durable and abrasion resistant to survive long days at the crag, on the wall, or even being hauled through the airport. It features recycled mesh and lining to bump up eco-friendly credentials without impacting performance. The materials are treated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) to provide ample water resistance for light rain and showery conditions. However, please note that this doesn't make it 100% waterproof, so the bag might begin to wet out if it's continuously exposed to heavy rain.
PFC-free means that no chemicals that would cause harm to the environment were used during the production process, making it a much cleaner method of manufacture.
The fabric and DWR are bluesign® approved, meaning they're manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
Mammut also works with FairWear to ensure safe, ethical working conditions in their factories, helping to protect workers' rights and being considerate and sustainable with their processes.
Which backsystem does it use?
The Neon 45 uses a CONTACT U-Frame™ to improve load transfer, taking uncomfortable pressure off your back and helping the pack to balance more evenly. Doing this reduces the risk of injury, and you're also less likely to be left with an achy back at the end of the day.
The CONTACT U-Frame™ also provides ample freedom of movement, allowing you to move without restriction on steep inclines and for more technical manoeuvres.
What are its features?
This backpack has full accessibility thanks to the top opening and large back panel access. You can even get into the large compartments when a rope is mounted onto the pack, saving you time and energy.
A cushioned hip belt provides comfort where needed and helps to stabilise the pack on the move. Ventilation on the back helps to prevent sweat build-up for mild or humid conditions, ideal when you're working hard to find your next spot or even when on the wall.
Wide handles on both sides allow you to grab and go. The flat base means you can stand the pack upright without it toppling over, making it much easier to get your gear out without it spilling all over the floor and getting dirty.
A large zipped flap provides alternative access into the main compartment, while internal gear loops and an additional flap with interior and exterior pockets provide further organisation. The Neon 45 also comes with an integrated rope bag, which you can remove and spread across the floor when unpacking, keeping ropes well protected and saving them from the dirt.
