What is the Prospector 50L?
The Prospector is a super lightweight backpack with a functional design and 50 litres of storage. It's the ideal backpack for overnight stays, whether camping, backpacking, travelling or thru-hiking for a few days at a time.
What is it made of?
Main material: Mipan® regen robic nylon provides maximum abrasion resistance for rugged environments. It's puncture and tear-resistant, and features a solution-dyed ripstop grid for maximum durability to ensure it lasts years of adventures. Though durable, this fabric doesn't compromise when it comes to the environment! It's a GRS-certified recycled material with an environmentally friendly UTS coating, giving it some extra eco-friendly credentials.
Base: The bottom of the pack is reinforced with heavy-duty twill to ensure the pack doesn't simply wear away after taking a beating in rough terrain.
Lining: Inside is lined with nylon taffeta, another super durable fabric that helps to protect belongings inside and provides a nice handle without adding excessive bulk.
Carry system: The shoulder straps, hip belt and backpanel use a stretchy, woven fabric that provides comfort and enhanced breathability to minimise sweat build-up under crucial contact points.
Which back system does it have?
The Prospector 50L uses a fully integrated suspension system to provide more balance on tricky, uneven terrain by strategically transferring the weight.
A cored aluminium perimeter frame gives the pack structure, and works with the shoulder straps and hip belt to increase overall comfort and performance while reducing aches and pains.
The contoured, anatomically curved backpanel features body-mapped foam to provide a more precise fit, optimising comfort and support for longer adventures and heavier loads.
Premium contoured shoulder straps sit over the shoulders more comfortably. Load lifter straps mean you can fine-tune the weight distribution, helping to prevent the load from being pulled down into your shoulders and lower back.
The Hoist Compression System pulls and spreads the weight upwards into your back to relieve tension and give a positive load transfer.
An Open Range Hipbelt enhances stability without compromising freedom of movement. The hipbelt is cut-to-fit and wraps tightly to the hips, eliminating gaps between your body and the pack. It's threaded behind the backpanel to create positive load transfer to the lumbar, combining stability with flexibility.
You can adjust the fit of the hipbelt using the dual stabiliser straps. These straps adjust the upper and lower sections separately, allowing you to really dial in the fit.
What are its features?
Top load access and a roll-top closure provide secure, weather-resistant, yet accessible entry. A two-side webbing buckle closure also helps to keep everything secure whilst doubling up as a compression strap, allowing you to minimise the volume of your pack when it's not fully loaded.
This pack has a full-zip back panel that gives you duffel-style access to the interior - handy when you need to grab something right at the bottom of the bag.
It has an internal hydration pocket that can store water bladders of up to three litres. This pocket has a built-in bladder hook to keep it from slumping right to the bottom, a discreet routing port for drinking tubes and a hose clip on the sternum strap to keep it from flapping around as you move.
Two stretchy mesh side pockets are great for storing water bottles and travel cups. On the front, there's also a stash pocket, ideal for maps and guidebooks, and a zip pocket with a key clip to ensure your keys don't fall out en route.
Exterior webbing, bungee cord loops and daisy chain attachments are great for storing more bulky items or trekking poles without wasting valuable space inside. For winter adventures, there's even a discreet ice axe loop alongside a top grab handle for when you're in a rush.
Last but certainly not least, two colour-matched, removable hip pockets and a seven litre Big Agnes Trash Can are included with the pack, allowing you to keep your snacks and trash separate and organised while ensuring no trace is left on the trails.
