What is the Mythic 200?
Rab has created the Mythic 200 sleeping bag with quality, performance, and practicality in mind. The lightweight, packable sleepsack is filled with R.D.S Certified, European Goose Down, providing the lightest, cosiest coverage so you can catch some z's with ease.
What is it made from?
Insulation: The Mythic 200 uses 900 fill power, R.D.S Certified, European Goose Down for maximum loft (fluffiness) and insulation.
European Goose Down is some of the highest quality down on the current market, making this sleeping bag super high grade and efficient for keeping the heat in.
The down is treated with a Nikwax fluorocarbon-free Hydrophobic finish, which adds light water-resistance to the down itself.
Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick breakdown.
Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft (fluff up). A rating of 900 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 900 cubic inches of space when fully lofted.
R.D.S - The Responsible Down Standard ensures that the down is sourced from happy birds who haven't been plucked and have been well cared for.
Hydrophobic - Hydrophobic down dries out and lofts more quickly than untreated down, resisting moisture from sweat and condensation that may build up when you're catching z's in the bag. Fluorocarbon-free Hydrophobic finishes don't use harmful chemicals that cause damage to the environment, an excellent feature for more eco-conscious adventurers.
Outer fabric: The outer shell of this sleeping bag is made of 7D Atmos™ Ripstop Nylon with a water repellent finish. This material is a super lightweight fabric that is better at resisting tearing or snagging than standard fabrics - handy when you're camping out in rough, rocky terrain! The lightweight nature of this fabric takes away a lot of bulk to help relieve the burden of carrying heavy kit when trekking, backpacking, and mountaineering.
Lining: 7D Atmos™ Nylon Ripstop is also used on the bag's lining, helping to increase the overall durability of the design whilst being more breathable than heavier fabrics. A durable water repellent (DWR) finish is also applied to the lining, providing some water resistance against light rain, snow, or a clumsy water bottle spill in your tent.
What are its features?
Starting with the overall shape of the bag, the Mythic 200 is designed in a tapered mummy shape to provide efficient coverage to the whole body.
At the top of the bag, you will find a close-fitting, adjustable neck baffle, helping to decrease heat loss that often occurs around the head and neck area of the sack. Tightening the neck baffle will trap the heat generated by the body from the neck down. Therefore, your body doesn't expend excess energy constantly generating more warmth, helping you rest and recover efficiently.
A trapezoidal boxwall construction directs more insulation towards the body's surface by forcing the down to sit in a trapezoid shape within each baffle. This construction method optimises the loft and warmth of the bag.
The chevron shaped baffle design helps reduce migration of the down, whilst optimising core warmth, by encouraging the down to sit in the central points of the sleeping bag.
A 3/4 length main zip with an anti-snag internal zip guard enables easy access, lined with a synthetic-filled baffle to help trap in warmth and prevent cold spots, which can often be a problem if investing in lesser quality sleeping bags.
There is an internal stash pocket with a zip fastening, handy for your phone, alarm clock or a torch without getting them lost in the deep realms of the bag.
The angled foot box allows a natural, relaxed sleeping posture by providing extra wiggle room around the feet, ideal for fidgety sleepers!
Two storage bags are included with this sleeping bag. The zipped cotton sack with a resistant water base is designed to store your sleeping bag at home and give it more breathing room. Storing the bag in a more spacious pack allows the down filling to remain lofted, helping to increase its overall performance and lifespan.
A roll-top waterproof stuffsack is also provided to compact the bag so you can carry it on the move with less bulk. Stuffsacks are meant to be stuffed! So do your best to cram your sleeping bag inside instead of folding the bag away. Stuffing randomly helps to prevent folds and creases in the down, which will prevent cold spots and gaps from developing.
