What is the Megamat LWX?
It's an updated version of Exped's exceptionally comfortable self-inflating sleeping mat that's mega in size, comfort, and warmth. Now made from recycled materials, with a lighter weight and pack size. This long and wide mat is as luxurious as life can get at basecamp, when comfort is the main priority, not weight or packsize.
What is it made from?
Material: The Megamat LWX uses two different weights of fabric – a soft, 50 D recycled tricot nylon that feels excellent next to skin, and a tougher 75 D recycled polyester on the base of the mat for added strength. The two different weights of fabric ensure maximum comfort without compromising on durability.
Insulation: The 10 cm deep air chambers are filled with 16kg/m² of open-celled PU foam that is Oeko-Tex certified. This soft PU foam features horizontal air channels throughout, which reduce the mat's weight without sacrificing thickness or comfort while also providing exceptional warmth.
What are its features?
The Megamat is exceptionally comfortable and easy to use. To inflate, simply open the inflate valve and allow the foam to rebound back to its original form.
Separate flat valves for inflation and deflation make setting up and packing down this self-inflating mat a breeze, whilst the firmness of the mat can be tailored to your preference by tapping on the one-way flap of the inflation valve to release small amounts of air whilst lying on the mat.
This updated Megamat is now made from recycled materials and features a new top-up pump to aid inflation and practical handle on the side.
The mat's 3D construction ensures the biggest possible level sleeping surface from edge to edge, and combined with its luxurious 10cm thickness, its a spacious and luxuriously comfortable sleeping mat.
The mat comes with a roll top storage bag with carry strap, which can also be used as a shoulder bag. Just like your sleeping bag, if you aren't using the mat for sometime we recommend that it's stored unrolled with the valves open (under a bed for instance) to ensure the internal foam retains its expansion.
What is its R-value?
This matt has an R-Value of 8.1 which in real terms means that this matt will keep you toasty right down to an amazing -40⁰C. R-Values are an international standard of insulation and (in simple terms) indicate the materials ability to reduce heat flow through conduction, radiation or convection. Therefore, the higher the R-Value, the lower the heat transfer and the greater the insulation properties of the material.
