What is the Tensor Alpine? The Tensor Alpine is a lightweight, packable, durable yet ultra-warm and protective sleeping mat designed specifically for high-altitude mountaineering and sub-zero backpacking. This particular mat is the regular mummy version, meaning it's tapered at the legs to reduce weight and pack size.
What is it made of?Insulation: Three layers of metalised film within the mat keep you warm and protected when the mercury drops below 0°C. This lightweight metallic film adds very little weight to the mat yet boosts warmth substantially and will pack down smaller than a traditional synthetic insulation.
Fabrics: Surrounding this is a tough yet lightweight 20D PU-coated polyester. This makes it highly water-resistant without hugely compromising comfort.
Which construction does it use? When inflated, you'll notice the top of the mat is made up of hundreds of little semi-circles; these provide plenty of support and comfort yet allow the curves of your body to sit between them. According to NEMO, this also makes the mat quieter than most alternatives. They call this their Spaceframe construction.
What are its features?Included with the mat is a handy Vortex pump sack — this allows you to quickly and effortlessly inflate and deflate the mat without having to blow moist air inside, a big no-no in sub-zero conditions. The valve to inflate the mat lies flush with the rest of the mat and can be used to deflate the mat in small increments to suit your specific weight.
