What is the ProLite?
The Women’s ProLite sleeping mat from Therm-A-Rest is the lightest 3 season self-inflating mat available and thanks to the use of an expanding foam core that inflates quickly, the mat is now even better at self-inflating. The ProLite also packs down incredibly small making it ideal for backpackers, summer mountain treks and thru-hikes.
What is the ProLite made of?
The Atmos foam is sandwiched between two super tough, 50 denier mini hex polyester fabric layers, so you can sleep soundly knowing you mat is good on any outdoor surface. However if you do manage to get a puncture we also sell the Permanent Home Repair Kit.
What are the features?
Construction: The ProLite is Therm-A-Rest's lightest, self-inflating 3 season mat. Just undo the valve and let the foam bounce back to its original form. The core is made from Therm-A-Rest's new proprietary Atmos foam; it is lighter weight, more compressible and bounces back even quicker with better loft. Saying that however, you will always need to fine tune your mat for your own comfort.
Valve: The ProLite features Therm-a-Rests new WingLock valve. The WingLock is positioned away from the sleep surface of the mat and has a larger valve opening which allows the pad to inflate three times faster than the classic valve. It features a one way valve design that keeps the air from escaping whilst you’re inflating it. When it’s time to pack up in the morning, open the valve and twist the ‘wings’ to deflate your pad. The ProLite now also includes a pump sack so you can inflate your mat quickly, easily and without getting out of breath!
What is the R-value of the ProLite?
This matt has an R-Value of 2.7 which in real terms means that this matt is suitable for 3-season use. The hawk-eyes amongst you will notice that the R-value is slightly higher than the men’s version – this is because women tend to sleep colder than men, so this ensures you still have a good night’s sleep at the same temperature! R-Values are an international standard of insulation and (in simple terms) indicate the materials ability to reduce heat flow through conduction, radiation or convection. Therefore, the higher the R-Value, the lower the heat transfer and the greater the insulation properties of the material.
