What is the Solar Horizon 2?
It's a spacious, inner-pitch first, two-person tent ideal for wild camping, multi-day hiking or trekking across the seasons. With superb eco-credentials, it uses Terra Nova's revolutionary recycled TriPlex™ fabric technology for highly packable performance, making it an excellent choice for those looking to make more environmentally responsible purchases.
What is it made from?
Fly: The flysheet uses Terra Nova's revolutionary TriPlex™ fabric for excellent water resistance, durability and resistance to stretching when wet. TriPlex™ is a triple ripstop polyester and nylon weave fabric which is lightweight, stable and highly durable. The fabric is made from recycled materials sourced from post-consumer plastic bottles and PFC-free fibres. It's also solution-dyed to further add to this material's excellent eco-credentials.
The flysheet is fully encased with a high-pressure silicone coating on both sides for excellent water resistance, which eliminates the need for traditional water-repellant treatments that can contain harmful forever chemicals. This clever silicone coating delivers a reliable hydrostatic head rating of 3,000mm to ensure you stay nice and dry in your tent when the weather’s not playing ball.
Inner: The tent's inner is created from a 20D ripstop fabric made from recycled nylon. This material is lightweight and highly durable, helping to keep the tents overall bulk down without compromising on performance.
Floor: The tent's base uses the same recycled nylon 20D ripstop fabric as the inner tent, except this section is enhanced with a silicone/ PU coating for excellent water resistance to stop water ingress inside the tent. This material boasts a hydrostatic head rating of 5,000 mm, making it more than adequate for camping in various weather conditions
Poles: 8.7mm DAC NFL tent poles keep this fantastic tent stable and upright. They're incredibly strong and are made of lightweight aluminium to ensure they don't add too much weight to your trekking pack. This tent can also be reinforced with standard trekking poles to provide extra stability in high winds - a great feature if the weather unexpectedly turns nasty.
What are its features?
Entry: The tent features two entry points and two vestibules. They can be used separately as your own personal entry for you and your camping buddy, so you don't have to wake each other in the middle of the night if nature calls. They can also be used as separate wet and dry entrances to help keep the inner tent nice and dry when the weather's not playing ball. The inner tent's doors feature a half mesh construction to the upper half to help increase the airflow inside the tent to reduce the build-up of condensation.
Space: The tent offers plenty of space for two campers to sleep side by side comfortably, whilst the two vestibules provide ideal storage for bulky or wet items of gear. The sleeping compartment is a generous 128cm wide and has a head height of 108cm, which is ample room for moving around, relaxing and eating dinner in the evenings.
Guys, Attachments & Pegs: Reflective Dyneema® guylines increase visibility in low light and help to prevent literal night-time trips.
A combination of Terra Firma mini pegs and Alloy Hook pegs keep the tent firmly planted to the floor and offer various pitching options depending on different terrain.
