What is the Kaitum Fleece?
The Kaitum Fleece is a warm and cosy midlayer fleece, designed for all-day, temperature-regulating comfort when trekking, hiking, or casually exploring the outdoors in cold climates.
Created from a merino wool-rich blend, it combines the fantastic natural performance qualities of wool with the durability of synthetic fibres to create a durable and versatile fleece that's designed to last.
Materials & Technology
Wool Blend Fleece Construction
The Kaitum Fleece is created from a woven blend of fully traceable merino wool, recycled polyamide and recycled polyester, to provide a balance of temperature regulation, durability and moisture management to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
Merino wool is renowned for its natural performance qualities, such as temperature regulation, moisture management and odour resistance. It will keep you warm throughout the day, adapting to your body's changing temperature as you go about your day, keeping you feeling comfortable and protected from the cold. It's also highly insulative even when wet, making it an effective layer for venturing outdoors in unpredictable conditions.
The small amount of added recycled polyamide and recycled polyester fibres provide added durability and helps the fleece retain its shape over time, ensuring it stands up to regular use in outdoor environments.
G-1000® Air Pocket Reinforcements
Fjallraven has reinforced the pockets with their G-1000® Air fabric, which is a tightly woven blend of polyester and cotton. This lightweight, densely woven material helps provide added abrasion resistance to extend the lifespan of the fleece, while still allowing for breathability to help keep you comfortable throughout the day.
Recycled Microfleece Hood Lining
The hood is lined with a lightweight soft microfleece made from recycled polyester to improve next-to-skin comfort and provide additional warmth on frosty days.
Fjallraven's recycled polyester is responsibly created from plastic PET bottles, unusable second-quality fabrics and fabric offcuts. Rest assured, it still retains the same exceptional durability and performance as virgin polyester, with the added bonus of helping to reduce the use of raw materials and non-renewable sources, whilst also reducing air, water and soil contamination.
Features and Functionality
Hooded Design
A cosy fixed hood with a soft recycled microfleece lining provides additional warmth by protecting the head and back of the neck from cold conditions. It's ideal for blustery morning dog walks in the shoulder seasons and cosy evenings around the campfire when the temperatures drop.
Full-Length Front Zip
The fleece is fastened with a two-way front zip for versatile use. It offers easy ventilation to prevent you from overheating when the trail gets tough, whilst also providing added functionality for use with a climbing harness.
Practical Pocket Layout
For storage, you'll find two well-placed hand pockets, ideal for keeping your essentials easily accessible or for keeping your hands warm on cold days.
Raglan Sleeve Construction
The fleece features a raglan sleeve construction for freedom of movement, keeping vital seams out of the way. This allows your shoulders to move more naturally and reduces friction when worn with a backpack.
