We hope that you are perfectly happy with your order from Trekitt, but we understand that sometimes you may need to return an item. We offer a 90-day returns period from the date of purchase and aim to process all returns within 48 working hours of receipt. During exceptionally busy periods, returns may take up to 7 working days to be processed.

We do not offer a free returns service. If using the DPD Returns Portal, a charge of £5 will be deducted from your refund when processed. Returns from Highlands and Islands using theDPD Returns Portalwill deduct £15.50 from the order refund. Large DPD returns will have £6 deducted from their refund. (Specifications are over 5kg, and over Length of 30cm x width of 30cm and height of 10cm). If customers are returning items using their own postal service, and our returns form, all customers are responsible for any postage costs when returning any goods (excluding warranty returns).

We do not offer exchanges. Instead we ask you kindly to complete a new order for the desired replacement and return the unwanted Good(s) for a refund. Under the "Consumer Contract Regulations, you have the right to cancel an order for goods made at a distance. These rights start from the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive your goods.

We want to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible, the first step for this is reducing our waste. Therefore, please note that we will always offer a professional repair in the first instance; if the product can be repaired.

What are the Alta Pants?

The Alta Pants are robust and protective waterproof shell trousers designed to provide maximum wet weather protection for various gnarly mountain missions and challenging ascents. They combine the latest Gore-Tex Pro ePE membrane with a functional bib construction and KEVLAR® reinforcements for maximum performance, durability and breathability.

What are they made from?

Montane has used a highly durable 70-denier recycled nylon fabric with the latest Gore-Tex Pro ePE membrane for maximum performance with minimal environmental impact. Despite its tough 70 denier construction, this plain weave fabric feels surprisingly smooth and low bulk, yet reassuringly sturdy. It's made from 100% recycled nylon with a solution-dyed micro grid woven backer and the latest Gore-Tex Pro ePE technology. This combination provides excellent abrasion resistance and fantastic waterproof, windproof protection for the most challenging conditions, whether torrential wind and rain or harsh snow.

Gore-Tex Pro pulls out all the stops, being the most rugged Gore-Tex product available. Not only is it incredibly durable, but it also offers the highest level of breathability to enhance temperature regulation and moisture management. The trousers feature a hydrostatic head rating of 28,000 mm and a RET breathability statistic of <13, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of gnarly outdoor adventures and mountain missions when reliable waterproof protection is critical.

The trousers are finished with a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain, snow and mud to bead off the trousers instead of soaking in, helping to keep the waterproof membrane clean, protected and in tip-top shape.

If you were wondering, the latest Gore-tex technology uses an ePE membrane, which stands for expanded polyethene, which is light, thin yet durable, and PFC-free. If you're familiar with Trekitt descriptions, you may have seen that 'PFC-free' phrase floating around before. PFCs are per or poly-fluorinated chemicals, aka 'forever chemicals' that stay permanently in the environment and cause lasting damage to our ecosystems. Many companies are working towards a completely PFC-free future, so this is quite a breakthrough for the Gore-Tex® brand! In addition, this membrane has a reduced carbon footprint, as it uses laminates with a lower-mass membrane and selected textiles, making it an ideal choice for more environmentally conscious adventurers.

The instep of the Alta Pants is reinforced with Schoeller® Keprotec® Kevlar®, which is a super durable blend of Nylon and Aramid (Kevlar) to protect this high-wear area from scuffs and abrasion caused by rocky mountainsides, chunky mountaineering boots and crampons.

What are their features?

The Alta Pants showcase Montane's latest advanced construction techniques that improve the trousers' breathability and durability while removing unnecessary material to reduce weight and increase performance.

The innovative Sew-Free construction utilises fully bonded pockets and zips to minimise weight and bulk while maximising breathability, comfort and packability, all without sacrificing protection or performance.

Thoughtfully designed offset seam intersections throughout the trousers improve durability across the seams, enhancing comfort levels and extending the trousers' longevity.

Montane have used their innovative Barrier technology at all openings and hems to actively combat water ingress by preventing the wicking of external moisture from the edges of the trousers throughout the day, ensuring you stay dry in the most demanding conditions.

The trousers feature a built-in stretch bib construction for a secure, protective fit with a comfortable feel around the waist. Detachable braces allow you to tailor the trousers to suit your preference and adventure best. A two-way YYK Aquaguard recycled zip fly provides quick access when nature calls, while the two full-length recycled side zips provide versatile ventilation options. They also provide drop-seat functionality for fuss-free access when the time comes, and feature inner Storm Guard plackets to provide an additional barrier against the elements.

For storage, there is a single bonded Sew-Free zippered thigh pocket that allows you to keep essentials close to hand while still being out of the way and accessible when wearing a climbing harness.

As mentioned above, the instep of the trousers are reinforced with SCHOELLER® KEPROTEC® KEVLAR® for exceptional durability and protection from abrasion caused by rocky mountainsides, chunky mountaineering boots and crampons. There is also an internal bonded gaiter to provide the optimum fit around various footwear and help prevent snow and water from getting inside the trousers.

Finally, the Alta Pants are constructed with Montane's 'mountain fit,' which is cut to provide enough room underneath for a technical layering system. The fit has been engineered with built-in articulation that prioritises dynamic movement for climbing, hiking and scrambling your way to the summit.
