What is the Spitz GTX Pro Jacket?
The Spitz GTX Pro is the ultimate shell jacket for winter mountaineering, climbing, scrambling and via ferrata routes that are rugged and rocky. It provides exceptional weather protection and durability, thanks to its Gore-Tex® Pro construction, without compromising weight and bulk.
What is it made of?
This jacket uses lightweight, robust three layer Gore-Tex® Pro materials, including Gore-Tex® Pro Most Rugged and Most Breathable, and Climatic™ Rugged to offer the most reliable protection without compromise.
Gore-Tex® Pro is fully waterproof, protecting you from wet weather, even in extreme conditions. It's also totally windproof, helping to prevent that nasty chill on exposed routes.
Gore-Tex® Pro Most Rugged is thicker to add durability and withstand a beating in the harshest conditions, whilst Most Breathable fabric is lighter to increase breathability and temperature regulation. Each material is strategically placed, offering reinforcement across the shoulder, sleeves, back, and hips and breathability where it's needed most. They now use recycled and solution-dyed textiles that help reduce water usage and C02 emissions, creating a much lower environmental impact than previous methods and treatments.
Climatic™ Rugged gives the jacket a four-way stretch for improved freedom of movement. It's made of a tightly woven polyamide that increases wind resistance and can endure bumps and scrapes on rough surfaces and jagged rocks.
What are its features?
The hood of this jacket is helmet compatible, allowing you to comfortably fit a climbing helmet underneath for maximum shielding on the rockface. It has a reinforced peak, helping to draw away rain from your face.
This jacket also has underarm zips for ventilation. They're easy to use and are big enough to be pulled with one hand without taking the jacket off completely, minimising faff and saving crucial time.
Two large napoleon chest pockets are ideal for storing essentials that you might need to access quickly, such as snacks, energy gels, a small map, or a GPS device. They've been placed high enough not to be obstructed by harnesses if you're roped in, giving reassurance they'll be accessible no matter what your activity.
A RECCO® reflector has been added for visibility, helping to keep you safe in the mountains if you're exploring in poor conditions or after hours.
Finally, Haglofs has developed the Spitz GTX Pro to be shorter in length, offering better mobility around the waist and hips and easier accommodation for climbing harnesses.
