Consumer Contract Regulations (CCR)

What are the Consumer Contract Regulations?

Under the "Consumer Contract Regulations, you have the right to cancel an order for goods made at a distance. These rights start from the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive your goods.

Your right to cancel

Your right to cancel an order for goods starts the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive your goods.

This 14 day period is the time you have to decide whether to cancel, you then have a further 14 days to actually send the goods back.

Your Right to a Refund under CCR

You may get a refund within 14 days of either, the trader getting the goods back, or you providing evidence of having returned the goods (for example, a proof of postage receipt from the post office), whichever is the sooner.

A deduction can be made if the value of the goods has been reduced as a result of you handling the goods more than was necessary. The extent to which you can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop.

Refunding the cost of delivery

The trader has to refund the basic delivery cost of getting the goods to you in the first place, so if you opted for enhanced service e.g. guaranteed next day, it only has to refund the basic cost.

Exemptions

There are some circumstances where the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not give you a right to cancel. These include CDs, DVDs or software if you've broken the seal on the wrapping, perishable items and tailor-made or personalised items. They also include goods with a seal for health protection and hygiene reasons that have been broken or tampered with, e.g. Climbing Equipment and PPE.

My goods are broken

If you feel that your item is defective/broken/faulty and it is still under warranty, please contact our Customer Support team([email protected])with as much information as possible with regards to the fault, including photos if applicable.

We want to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible, the first step for this is reducing our waste. Therefore, please note that we will always offer a professional repair in the first instance; if the product can be repaired.

This may involve your product being sent back to our suppliers or to a professional repair company. Please note that due tovaried procedures, warranty claims and repairs can take between 2 and 4 weeks to be concluded

Mountain Equipment Ogre 33+ Blue Graphite

Season:ZZZ Discontinued

Brand:Mountain Equipment

Code:003401-01424-O/S

What is the Ogre 33+?

The Ogre is a lightweight, rugged, comfortable pack that bridges the gap between super technical climbing bags and day-hike bags. It's aimed at everyone from climbers, mountaineers, hill walkers and every adventure in between.

What is the Ogre made of?

The Ogre is constructed using two different weights of M series fabrics - M840 and M210. These are both durable, double-ripstop Polyamide fabrics that feature a DWR (durable water repellent) face-coating for water repellency and snow shedding with a PU coating on the inside. This fabric is not only optimised for weather resistancy but also built to take a beating - no scuff and tears whilst you're hauling your pack up a multi-pitch climb.

What is the backsystem?

This is where the Ogre is incredibly clever; most of the elements of the carry system can be removed to offer on-demand minimalism. The pack features a removable EVA composite back panel, that not only manages sweat remarkably well but also adds an extra layer of comfort when carrying hefty, jabby climbing items. It is also incredibly tough and won't snag when hauling the pack up a rock face. The 38mm webbing hipbelt features high density, EVA moulded fins that are also removable. They are incredibly comfortable and hug your body like a climbing harness, offering reliable stability and all-day comfort. The final factor of the carry system is the shoulder straps - these are also EVA moulded and curved to sit out of the way of the movement of your shoulders, whilst simultaneously protecting from chaffing. The EVA is also effective at moving sweat away from your body on even the hottest of mountain days. The chest strap is fully adjustable and offers extra support when carrying heavier loads.

What are the features?

Much like the backsystem, the features are also minimalistic - most of which can be removed to strip the weight right down. Starting from the top, the lid features an integrated cowl-lid pocket with external zipped access for quick, on the move items. It is incredibly spacious and is the perfect place to stash the suncream, gloves and jelly babies. The lid also features a zipped internal security pocket that is the ideal place to stash phones and keys. This cowl-lid also double up as extra protection from adverse weather conditions.

The lid is secured in place by a Durable Grappler buckle - originally designed for the Tupilak Pack, the Durable Grappler buckle has proved to be a game changer. It is easy to use with big mitts on and stays put no matter how much downward force you put on it (we have tried and none of us could get it to budge). The strap on the Durable Grappler buckle is extra long so you can carry a rope or a helmet under the lid of the pack.

The side compression straps are adjustable and removable; the thermoplastic hammerhead toggles can be adjusted both up and down the pack for additional external storage, as well as being able to be synched tight for added stability if your pack is underfilled. The axe head toggles have been custom developed to be lightweight, durable and fully removable. They have flared fins that will secure a wide range of ice tools to the outside of the pack. The pack also has an integrated pick pocket so you can tuck the sharp bits of your axe out of the way.

Summary

The Ogre strikes the perfect balance between technical, clever design and day-long comfort. It will become your best friend no matter your adventurer and no matter the season. We are sure you'll fall in love with it just as much as we have.

Getting the correct fit for your rucksack is as important as getting the fit right for your boots. A badly fitting pack can inflict misery and discomfort and completely ruin your adventure. This guide is designed to help you get the best fit and comfort from your chosen pack so that carrying all your kit becomes a pleasure and not a chore.

ADJUSTING THE BACK LENGTH

If the pack has an adjustable back length, adjust this to your correct level. Your back length is not related to your height but your torso length. Many packs, and specifically the bigger and more technical packs are available in different back lengths or feature adjustable back systems. Contrary to popular belief, your torso length and not your overall height is the key to getting a well fitted pack. Tall people don’t necessarily have long torsos, just as shorter people don’t always have a short torso length.

Your torso length can be found by measuring from your C7 vertebra (the bony protrusion at the back of your neck when looking down) to the height of your iliac crest (top of your hip bones, where you put your hands on your hips). This measurement will give you an idea of which pack back length to choose.

Once you've got the back length sorted, either by selecting the correct size pack or adjusting the back system, you can begin to follow these simple steps to help achieve a comfortable carry.

LOOSEN OFF ALL STRAPS

Before you start fitting the pack, loosen off all the straps as this will make it easier to get the correct tension later.

TIGHTENING THE HIPBELT

Fasten the backpack hipbelt, the general position is the same as where you’d put your ‘hands on hips’ This area is called the pelvic girdle, and what you can feel when you rest your hand on the area is the bony protuberance, the iliac crest. The iliac crest can support the weight from a pack comfortably, and for sustained periods. The padded section of the hipbelt should encompass this and fit securely.

Tighten the straps so the hipbelt feels secure and held firmly around your body. Ensure that the lumbar pad is centered to your lower back to give you maximum support. Remember that your hips carry most of the weight of the pack, so this should be firm but comfortable.

ADJUSTING THE SHOULDER STRAPS

Next, adjust the shoulder straps, pull them until they start to become snug, but ensure that they are not too tight as to lift the pack off your hips. Remember tightening them will stabilise the pack but will increase pressure over the shoulders. If the back length of the pack is correct the shoulder straps will be flush to your shoulders whilst the hipbelt sits in place comfortably. The point where the shoulder straps attach to the main body of the pack should be roughly half way down your shoulder blades; this ensures  that the shoulder straps rolls evenly over the top of your shoulders to distribute the weight correctly.

FASTENING THE CHEST STRAP

Fasten the chest strap and pull until taut but not tight, the elastic section should not be extended. This helps keep the shoulder straps from catching in your shoulder joints and keeps the stability of the pack when moving over rough ground.

ADJUSTING THE TOP TENSIONERS

Top tensioner straps link the shoulder straps to the top of the pack. When tightened, their main function is to stabilise the top part of the pack. The optimum angle for these straps in 45º, but they will stabilise the load even when horizontal or at a more obtuse angle. Tighten them until you feel the top part of the pack rest against your pack, over tightening them will create excessive pressure on the front of your shoulders.

ADJUSTING THE SIDE TENSIONERS

Side tension straps are linked to the hipbelt. By tightening these straps you can stabilise the load but reduce the hipbelt flexibility. Where balance is critical tightening them can help you feel more secure. However, if you are striding out over easy terrain it’s better to loosen these straps to allow full hip flexibility.

ADJUSTING THE SIDE COMPRESSION STRAPS

Side compression straps come next, pulling these tight does two things: firstly, it stabilises the load, secondly it can lift the lower part of the pack, repositioning the load closer to your back.

ADJUSTMENTS ON THE GO

Following these steps should give you a comfortable but secure fit on your pack. Sometimes adjustments will need to be made on the go depending on the terrain or the load you are carrying. The perfect fit is very much a personal preference so experiment with different tensions on the pack to find what suits you best.
