What are the Randonee Gauntlet Gloves?
They're long, protective gloves that provide optimum protection for long or multiple days of alpine-style climbing, made with a mixture of durable materials, technical features and special climbing fit.
What are they made of?
The outer comprises four-way stretch nylon that provides plenty of freedom of movement and durability against rough surfaces. It's treated with a laminated, water-resistant membrane to increase weather protection - although please note, this doesn't make them fully waterproof.
Pittards® Armortan® Goatskin leather patches cover the back of the hand and the palms. These patches reinforce the already durable outer fabric in the highest wear point, as they're far more abrasion-resistant. The soft nature of the leather also helps to increase dexterity when using tools and ropes.
A fibre-pile lining feels soft and cosy next to the skin to enhance comfort. This lining is fast drying and breathable to help prevent moisture build-up from sweat and condensation.
Plus, you'll be grateful for each glove's reversed suede nose wipe patch! These patches are designed to provide a smoother, softer surface for those annoying runs, helping to prevent the skin from chapping or becoming sore.
What are their features?
The Randonee gloves have a gauntlet design that comes further up the wrist for additional coverage - these are great in icy or snowy conditions. Their climbing fit with pre-curved and articulated fingers removes the bulk and allows precision when handling equipment and ropes. Roll-top ends also minimise seams at the tip of each finger, enhancing comfort and allowing you to feel through the gloves more accurately.
A single-handed drawcord closure helps to seal out the weather and is ideal mid-ascent as you don't have to remove them entirely or faff trying to adjust them.
Wrist tethers help stop you from dropping or losing the gloves, but they can be removed if you're feeling brave. Lastly, a couple of handy loops, placed on the top of the fingers, can be clipped to a carabiner when not in use.
