What are the Ortles Light Mid PTX's?
They're lightweight and comfortable mid-height boots for Alpine mountaineering, climbing and trekking. Designed for progressive mountaineers who want to move fast in all conditions, they are both technical, making them suitable for various activities in various climates. From athletic, rocky trails to demanding routes on snow and ice, the Ortles Light Mid PTX offer lasting comfort, protection and stability underfoot.
What are they made from?
Upper: The shoe's upper is made from a tough and durable nylon fabric reinforced with high-tenacity, abrasion-resistant, protective TPU stitching. An internal rubber rand provides protection whilst still keeping the upper's overall weight and thickness as low as possible.
Lining: The Ortles Light Mid PTX use a Powertex PFC-free membrane for waterproof protection. It provides maximum comfort in various climates, keeping your feet dry in wet weather while still allowing moisture vapour to escape when you're working hard.
Midsole: For cushioning, the midsole is made from EVA rubber that's solid yet squishy enough to absorb shock on solid ground. EVA can regain its shape well and provides fantastic cushioning under the foot to help improve comfort during fast activity.
Outer: For traction, the Ortles Light Mid PTX uses a Pomoca Alpine Light outsole to ensure grip and traction in varied terrain, from athletic, rocky trails to demanding alpine routes on snow and ice. Salewa's Edging Plate 2 technology provides a balance of targeted stiffness, balanced flex, rebound comfort, and heel stability.
The laces are made from recycled materials without compromising on performance. In fact, the Ortles Light Mid PTX is Salewa's first-ever mountaineering boot to bear the Salewa Committed icon, meaning that all fabrics used are sourced responsibly, contain at least 50% recycled and upcycled content, are PFC-Free and chemically certified to ensure that they do not cause damage to the planet - making them a great choice for more sustainably focused adventurers.
What are their features?
The Ortles Light Mid PTX feature Salewa's Edging Plate 2 technology which provides targeted stiffness for edging stability, enhanced climbing performance with balanced flex and rebound cushioning for hiking comfort.
