What is the Nordes Hoodie 2.0?
The Nordes Hoodie 2.0 is an updated version of Montane's Nordes Hoodie, now constructed with warmer materials and an improved fit. This windproof, technical softshell jacket combines Gore-Tex® Windstopper ePE with a stretchy softshell outer to deliver breathable, all-day weather protection for various outdoor activities and mountain missions.
Materials & Technology
Performance-Mapped Construction
The updated Nordes Hoodie is constructed from a combination of 70D Granite Stretch Thermal softshell panels and 70D WINDSTOPPER® ePE by Gore-Tex Labs in a body-mapped construction to balance weather protection, durability and breathability.
WINDSTOPPER® by GORE-TEX Labs
Montane has used 70D Gore-Tex Windstopper™ ePE in a body-mapped construction to provide windproof protection in key areas, whilst still remaining flexible and breathable in others to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
These Gore-Tex Windstopper™ sections feature a robust, abrasion-resistant outer and a soft recycled flannel backer to enhance the fabric's ability to transport moisture and provide additional warmth. The outer fabric comprises 100% recycled nylon, whilst the flannel backer uses a soft 100% recycled polyester and is also solution-dyed.
Windstopper™ ePE membrane offers a durable, totally windproof, breathable and water-resistant performance, creating a permeable layer for sweat to escape through the membrane and wick away when you're working hard.
The Nordes Hoodie uses the latest Gore-Tex ePE membrane, which is free of PFC/PFAS chemicals and uses laminates with a lower-mass membrane and select textiles to reduce its carbon footprint, making it an ideal choice for more environmentally conscious adventurers.
GRANITE STRETCH Thermal
Granite Stretch Thermal is made from a robust combination of 50% recycled nylon, 42% recycled polyester and 8% elastane, to balance durability, warmth and flexibility. The material features a fantastic four-way stretch for unhindered movement, combined with a highly abrasion-resistant outer and a soft, peached thermal inner for next-to-skin comfort. This material maintains high levels of breathability and movement in cold, high-altitude conditions where you need a higher range of movement and warm muscles ready for the challenge.
Fluorocarbon-Free DWR Finish
Both materials are finished with a non-fluorocarbon DWR (durable water repellent) coating to encourage rain, moisture and snow to bead off the material instead of soaking in, without the use of harmful forever chemicals. However, please note this does not make the jacket fully waterproof. For venturing out in prolonged wet conditions, we always recommend packing a waterproof shell jacket.
Bluesign® & Oeko-tex® Certified Materials
All fabrics used in the Nordes Hoodie 2.0 are Bluesign® & Oeko-tex® certified, for reassurance that they have been created with responsible manufacturing standards.
The Oeko-tex® certification ensures the safety of the final product for consumers, confirming it is free from over 1,000 harmful substances. Bluesign® approval, on the other hand, focuses on the entire production process, aiming to eliminate harmful chemicals and promote more sustainable and safe manufacturing practices throughout the supply chain.
Features and Functionality
Technical Mountain Hood
The jacket features a fully adjustable hood with a laminated, flat, stiffened peak for maximum shelter. The hood features Montane's PIVOT 2 hood system, which can be adjusted with one hand to provide independent aperture and crown adjustment for a secure fit that naturally moves with your head, improving visibility in poor conditions. The hood is generously sized to accommodate a climbing helmet for maximum mountain versatility.
Technical Pocket Layout
For storage, you'll find two YKK VISLON® NATULON® recycled zipped hand pockets and two generous zipped, insulated chest pockets that offer space for various quick-access essentials, such as snacks, energy gels and a GPS device, mobile phone or small guide books.
There is also an internal drop pocket that's ideal for keeping spare gloves, a buff, and other mountain essentials close to hand.
The pockets have been strategically placed to ensure they stay functional and accessible when wearing a climbing harness or rucksack hipbelt.
Lightweight Construction
The jacket is constructed with minimal seams to improve overall durability and minimise unnecessary weight, keeping it packable. This construction also enhances comfort during prolonged use in the mountains, allowing you to focus on the task at hand.
Adjustable Fit
The jacket is finished with adjustable cuffs and a bottom hem to allow you to refine the fit over various layers, seal out the elements and trap warm air inside the jacket when conditions deteriorate.
