What is the Grandview 3L Jacket?

The Grandview 3L is a robust, fully waterproof shell jacket that is made using recycled materials and is designed for fast-paced mountain pursuits like skiing, snowboarding and ski-touring. Despite its winter mountain sport intentions, the Grandview makes a great all-round jacket for wet weather protection, whether hiking, biking, rambling in the countryside, commuting to work or walking the dog closer to home.

What is it made from?

Outer: The Grandview's outer fabric is a 75D ripstop fabric, that's robust enough to withstand the rigour of frequent skiing and snowboarding. This durable face fabric is made from 100% recycled polyester and is treated with Artilect's superb Empel permanent DWR (durable water repellent) treatment for added water resistance, encouraging rain and snow to bead off the jacket instead of soaking in.

Empel DWRs use uniform polymers that individually wrap each of the fabric's fibres with a protective molecular bonded water-repellent shield. This creates a super-hydrophobic exterior to the material that provides 10 times more protection than regular DWRs and won't wear out or ever need to be reapplied as the water resistance is hyper-fused to the actual fibres of the fabric.

This impressive Empel DWR is hurricane chamber tested for reassurance that it can withstand the rigour of real-world use. This treatment also enhances the breathability and softness of the material, all while being water, solvent and PFA/PFC free! Oh, and to top it all off, it's also Oeko-Tex certified, making it a proven more environmentally friendly option.

Membrane: For waterproof protection, The Grandview Jacket uses Artilect's proprietary High & Dry 3-layer membrane and fully taped seams for reliable, high-performance in varied conditions. This membrane uses the EMPEL permanent super-hydrophobic exterior as a first line of defence. Combined, it has an excellent hydrostatic head rating of 30,000mm and a superior 30,000gm/m2/24-hour breathability rating to ensure you are fully protected both from external precipitation, wind and cold and internal moisture buildup. All this is achieved whilst being free from any harmful forever chemicals and is Bluesign approved for added eco-reassurance.

Lining: The Grandview is lined with a breathable, moisture-wicking 20D Jersey, whilst the outer pockets are lined with a super soft 20D Recycled Nylon Tricot fabric to help take the chill off your hands on frosty mornings. The inner dump pocket is made from a stretchy power mesh so as not to impede the breathability of the jacket.

What are its features?

An adjustable hood provides excellent coverage and protection from the elements. The hood is compatible with a ski helmet for added mountain versatility.

Two YKK underarm zips provide excellent ventilation to the jacket. Should you start to work up a sweat, simply undo all, or part of the zip to effectively dump excess heat so you can hike back up the slope without overheating or having to fully unzip the jacket to cool down in wet conditions.

For storage, there is a plethora of YKK® zippered pockets for keeping all your adventure gear and trail snacks close to hand and safe on the go. They consist of two hand pockets, one chest pocket, one forearm pocket and a mesh inner dump pocket. They offer ample space for storing everything from energy gels to guidebooks, a mobile phone and your gloves, beanie, buff and your all-important ski pass.

Finally, adjustable cuffs with easy-use tabs allow you to cinch in excess material to improve the jacket's heat retention and tailor the fit around your ski gloves, mitts or bare wrists.
