What is the Boulder Fork Jacket?
It's a low-profile waterproof jacket designed for outdoor activities and lifestyles. Whether hiking, hill walking, fishing, or urban exploring, the Boulder Fork will keep you dry all day long.
What is it made of?
This jacket is made with H2No® Performance three-layer shell material, which combines 100% recycled polyester ripstop face with a polyester membrane, a recycled polyester tricot backer, and a PFC/PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent) finish.
H2No® is Patagonia's very own performance standard, which is defined by years of material testing. It sets a benchmark for waterproofness, breathability, and durability to ensure that this shell jacket will perform for life (as long as you look after it properly, of course).
The use of recycled polyester helps reduce the jacket's environmental impact by keeping useable materials in the loop and minimising the use of newly sourced material.
As mentioned, the material is completely PFC/PFAS-free and impregnated with a PFC/PFAS-free durable water repellent (DWR), which adds to its water resistance and encourages light rain and snow to bead away.
PFCs and PFAS chemical compounds used in earlier DWRs can't 'break down', so once they reach nature (usually via water waste from factories), they stay in the environment and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. These compounds are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect reproduction and hormone production in mammals. For these reasons, many brands are now using PFC-free alternatives to reduce the impact manufacturing has on our beautiful planet.
This product is also made in a Fair Trade Certified Factory™, giving Patagonia more control of the operations in the factories they choose to work with. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? The brand pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker health and safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.
What are the features?
A streamlined design with only essential features keeps this jacket minimal, streamlined, focused and packable for maximum functionality without the faff.
A low-profile hood with a laminated visor and single-pull adjuster delivers ample shelter without hindering visibility, effectively shedding water. The adjuster also allows you to accommodate various headwear and safety equipment.
The centre-front zip is waterproof and anti-corrosive for maximum durability, providing easy access and ventilation when needed.
One left-chest zipped pocket, plus two watertight, zipped handwarmer pockets, provide plenty of storage. The handwarmer pockets are situated higher for better accessibility when wearing a harness and are large enough to accommodate a fly box, map, or notebook.
Minimal cuffs with streamlined hook-and-loop tabs seal out the weather and can be adapted around chunky gloves or smartwatches.
You also get an adjustable hem adjuster, routed up through the front pockets, which helps reduce bulk under a backpack while sealing in warmth and keeping the weather out.
