What is the Fly Creek HV UL Solution Dye Tent?
The Fly Creek HV UL Solution Dye Tent prioritises weight for fast-paced multi-day adventures without compromising functionality. This one-person, three-season tent has a minimalist structure, making the Fly Creek HV UL Big Agnes' lightest technical backcountry tent yet!
It's also a much more sustainable option for the more eco-conscious adventurers due to the solution-dyeing process used in manufacturing this tent; however, we'll delve deeper into that below.
What is it made of?
Fly: The flysheet is made using nylon ripstop, which is incredibly durable and abrasion resistant to last years of wear. This material has been solution-dyed, making it highly resistant to UV fade and reducing water and energy consumption during manufacturing. It's treated with a water-repellent silicone and polyurethane coating, giving this fabric a rating of 1200mm hydrostatic head for waterproofness.
Floor: Big Agnes has used the same material on the tent's base as the flysheet, so it has the same properties as above. You can also purchase the tent footprint separately for additional reinforcement and longevity when used in harsher conditions.
Mesh: A combination of breathable, solution-dyed nylon ripstop and polyester mesh is used for the tent body/inner to keep your tent aired out nicely, providing versatility for humid conditions.
Poles: The DAC Featherlite NFL pole system is incredibly strong yet keeps the tent's weight to a minimum when packed down.
This system's single-pole architecture makes setting up and taking down the tent super easy, keeping all the sections together and interlinked for minimum faff.
It features custom-angle DAC hub and pole geometry to create a wider, taller, more vertical head panel that optimises living space and enhances the tent's structure once erected. The velcro tabs connect the fly to this structure and keep everything in place.
What are its features?
Entry: A single dry-entry door design helps to keep rainwater from falling into your tent as you get in and out. It has dual zippers with easy-grip pulls to make it super easy to navigate. You can also use the two-zip function for extra ventilation when needed. When leaving the door open, you can stash it into the keeper to prevent it from flapping around in the wind.
Space: Structured foot-end corners allow more usability between your feet and the tent wall, ideal for storing kit or tucking away a change of clothes without keeping it buried in your backpack.
Storage: There are two interior mesh pockets and one mesh pocket with one cord-routing portal for organising your essentials while keeping them within reach.
Using the interior loops, you can add a Gear Loft for hanging and organising additional gear on longer multi-day trips. Alternatively, you can use these loops to hook accessories or Big Agnes mtnGLO® Tent and Camping Lights.
Guylines, attachments and pegs: Pre-cut, reflective guylines and tensioners already attached to the fly make this tent ready-to-pitch right out of the bag! Colour-coded buckles and corner webbing loops are easy to use and durable. These are held down with the included aluminium stakes.
The proprietary tent corner construction featuring unique TipLock Tent Buckles® helps to streamline the set-up process. It combines secure pole-tip capture with rainfly attachments, tensioners and stake-out loops. The buckle has a keyed hole that allows the tip of each pole to lock securely into place. Thanks to the hinged design, the structure is then stabilised, balancing the force between the inner tent, flysheet and ground pegs.
Optional Extras: As mentioned, to prolong the life of your tent, you can separately purchase a Fly Creek HV UL 1 Footprint to protect the underside of your tent.
If you're seeking extra storage, you can also purchase a Big Agnes Gear Loft that allows you to hang more of your belongings above the sleeping area; this tent is compatible with the Triangle Gear Loft (also sold separately).
